New Staff Information

WELCOME TO OUR NEW STAFF

Welcome to the Greens Prairie Elementary Faculty! As a new staff member, we wanted to tell you about our Remind 101 texting system, our online LiveBinder for the Faculty Handbook, Comp Time, ESL, GT trainings and other campus details that will help your transition to Greens Prairie be successful.

REMIND 101

The administrative team uses a Remind 101 texting system to send out reminders to the staff. These texts have been reminders to wear jeans, safety updates, bad weather delays etc. Please take a moment to sign up. It can be done by simply clicking on this link and adding your cell phone number. If you have trouble, send Kathryn Ballard, kballard@csisd.org , another email with your cell phone number and she can set you up directly. If you are reading this from your smartphone, you should be able to do it from there too. Please don't feel bad if you need my help.

FACULTY CONTACT INFORMATION FOR 2018-2019

We have created a staff information google form to collect information on our staff. This includes things such as: your contact information, t-shirt size and some of your "favorites". Even without a CSISD email, you should be able to complete this form. https://goo.gl/4SrzGp

GT-GIFTED AND TALENTED 30 HOURS

The district requires each staff member to have 30 hours of GT training. The district has scheduled this training for July 23rd - July 26th. When you sign your contract, you will be getting information about this from HR. You will also be getting an email from our campus Enrichment Specialist, Vicki Murphy. She will work with you to make sure you have those 30 hours documented. Her email is vmurphy@csisd.org

ESL-ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

The district requires each staff member to have their ESL certification. Personnel will help guide you to obtain your ESL certification. You will also be getting an email from our ESL (English as a Second Language) Specialist, Michelle Prukop. She will work with you to make sure you have your ESL certification. Her email is mprukop@csisd.org

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES

As a new employee, we want to give you $200, compliments of our PTO, to help start your classroom before the September budgets begin. These funds could be for decoration items like nameplates, bulletin board decorations/border or other items you deem needed for your rooms. We will supply you with basic office supplies like sticky notes, paper clips, tape etc. You can create an online order from one of these vendors: School Specialty, Really Good Stuff or Lakeshore. You can also come up to school to see the catalogs if needed. Please turn in an order to our secretary, Casey Barone (cbarone@csisd.org). Casey will contact you to let you know the due date for submitting your orders.

DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN THAT WILL BE ENROLLING AT GP?

Every effort is made to place each child in a classroom most suited to your child's educational needs. As a GP employee, if you feel certain information should be considered in determining class placements, you may fill out this survey. This is for GP employees only. This form is not for other parents or other CSISD staff. Please complete a new form for each child that you will have at Greens Prairie for the 2018-2019 school year. This form should not be forwarded or shared with other people.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & COMP TIME

It is important to grow professionally. With this in mind, the district has designated three comp days during the school year (Novemer 19, 20 & April 22nd). To be eligible to “Comp Out” employees must have attended at least six hours of approved staff development as compensated time for each day. The training must be “on your own time”. Sessions held after school, on weekends, on school holidays, or during the summer after contracts end are eligible to be considered for the comp time. If employees are paid for their time, they cannot count the training as comp time. The Assistant Principal, Kathryn Ballard, keeps track of these hours, so please email her if you have questions about summer training. Her email is kballard@csisd.org

Please see smore link below for comp time communication sent out from Donna to our campus staff.

SCHOOL FAMILY SCRAPBOOK

We have a school family picture "frame" of our staff members. Please stop by the assistant principal's office to get a scrapbook page to decorate with pictures of you and your family. Kathryn Ballard is our assistant principal. What to check out examples? See the family frame outside of the office by the cafeteria.
