Nordic Ski Club is fully enjoying the snow!
Thank you to Mrs. Kirt and all who make Winter Wednesdays happen! Getting outdoors in the winter is the best.
The sound of laughter + the willingness to try a new outdoor activity = :)

Our 9th grade Comet Ski Racer Willa Murray placed 2nd and 3rd at last night’s conference meet... and 3rd and 7th at the invitational on Monday! She is a rockstar on the slopes and in the classroom.

Middle School Girls Basketball had an amazing student section! Thanks for bringing the energy and congratulations on the well earned W ladies!

HS Boys & Girls teams host Elementary Basketball Academy!

Since September the School Board has been acknowledging students and staff exhibiting IB Learner Profile Traits. Awesome job to all those who have been recognized so far.

6th grade social studies students made an inquiry into a compelling question of their choice. This summative project concluded a mapping unit on the United States and Canada.

Beautiful HS art :)

Thank you to the Sophomore Class and all who made the Snow Ball a huge success!

The dance was Winter Wonderland themed complete with a hot chocolate bar!

The chocolate dipped marshmallows and pretzel sticks were made by student led group called Natural Helpers. The Snow Ball banner and mega snowflakes were made by National Honor Society.

The entire Sophomore Class pitched in to set up on Friday at school and the group above again Saturday before the dance!

It is so fun to see these kids thrive in the art of event planning and set up! And practice their vacuuming skills after :)

Our amazing Senior Djs!

Finally, a big thank you to Mooch the pup for leading the chaperones :)
Kindergarteners enjoy parent guest speakers sharing about their careers!

A representative from the United States Air Force was in the lunchroom during HS lunch Thursday to visit and answer any questions students may have.

Middle School Parents & Students - The U-M Digital Wellness Conference is Saturday, January 21st, from 9:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.
Middle school can be a time when kids are getting their first phones, texting, signing up for social media, and exploring the web on their own. Sometimes, online life is fun and rewarding, connecting us to our interests and the people we care about. At other times, it can feel overwhelming, addictive, or manipulative.
The past two years have reminded us of how much we rely on our devices. We want kids to thrive when they are online, and we want parents and caregivers to have confidence and tools for supporting that journey.
Please join us Saturday, January 21st, from 9:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m., for the U-M Digital Wellness Conference! We’re looking for two-person teams (middle schooler plus parent/caregiver) to join us on Zoom for a fun morning of learning, conversation, and activities about healthy online behaviors. There will be time for tween/teen-only activities with U-M students, time for adults to engage Q&A with the featured speaker, breaks to get up and move around and at-home conversation prompts or challenge activities to complete together.
Our Keynote speaker will be an expert on digital wellness and health from CommonSense Media.
Each family that participates will receive a Digital Wellness care package after the symposium which includes Raising Humans in a Digital World: Helping Kids Build a Healthy Relationship with Technology, as well as some fun University of Michigan swag!
There is a small fee associated with participation ($15 per family). This fee helps to cover the cost of the symposium. However, we do not want the fee to deter anyone so we have a free option as well. Please choose the option that works best for your family.
Should you register and be unable to attend, you will receive a full refund if you let us know no later than January 17th at 9:00 a.m.

As you may have seen in recent communication, a group of parent volunteers are working towards putting together a PTO/PTA at Leland Public School. With encouragement from Administration, Stacey Brugeman, Emily Miezio, Hilary Ulbrich and Dan Worth have agreed to spearhead this effort to create a welcoming and inclusive organization that supports our teachers and school community.
Between now and spring break, this Steering Committee plans to pursue a period of due diligence - with plenty of listening, researching and open-ended conversation about what everyone would like to see and not see in a PTO. If you wish to share your thoughts, volunteer, or otherwise be added to communication as things evolve, please contact any of listed above or email them at ptoleland@gmail.com.
