Let's Hear From Our Coaches!
Boy’s Lacrosse:
The boy's lacrosse team is currently 12-4 and won the NJAC United division championship with our win over Vernon Wednesday night. Previously, we advanced to the quarterfinals of the county tournament as the #5 seed. Our senior night was this past Monday as we celebrated 15 seniors who have done a great deal to help move this program forward. We capped it off by winning the game in overtime. The team is looking forward to our last 2 regular-season games and the state tournament that begins next Wednesday. We are in line to host our first-round matchup and are excited for the challenges that are ahead of us.
Girl’s Lacrosse:
The Mount Olive Girls Lacrosse team is currently 7-8 on the season and 3-3 in the Freedom North Division. We were ranked 9th in Morris County and lost 16-11 to the number 8 seed, Madison, in the first round of the Morris County Tournament. The girls are working very hard and have implemented some high-level motions into gameplay. Our senior captains Mollie Baduini, Lily Wirstiuk, and Drew Palumbo have done a fantastic job leading the team on and off the field. Aubrey Giordano, a senior midfielder, scored her 100th goal against Morristown Beard, and Gabby Helder, senior goalie, made her 100th save against Madison. Aubrey currently leads our team in goals and points while junior attacker Caitlyn Marone leads our team in assists. We are looking forward to senior night on Thursday, May 12th as well as the state tournament.
Softball:
The softball team has big wins against some top teams in the county and state. The Marauders beat Indian Hills 12-2, Toms River South 3-2, and West Morris 9-8 in 10 innings, just to name a few. The girls are working hard every day to continue to improve their game.
Baseball:
The Mount Olive boys’ varsity baseball team is off to a great first half of the season compiling a 14-6 record to date. After drawing the #3 seed in the county tournament, MO currently stands #3 overall in power points in the North Section 1, Group 3 standings.
Led offensively by seniors Brian Bienus, Andrew Paoli, junior JT Abrusci, and Sophomore Ben Nugent, the Marauders have been able to score runs on strong quality situational hitting and timely baserunning.
On the mound, Junior Right-hander Connor Ramsey has been nothing less than stellar. Ramsey sits atop the county rankings with 51 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched. Ramsey has pitched in all the Marauder's top games.
Flag Football:
The inaugural girl's flag football season is underway. Although the team has struggled to secure its first win, the team has been working extremely hard to learn the sport which is new to all of them. With two games remaining in the season, we hope to pull off the program's first-ever win and end the season strong. The team is led by quarterback Olivia Brown (senior), running backs Stella Orellana (sophomore) and Julia Klatt (sophomore), and wide receivers Adrianna Chaparro (senior) and Izzy Kolbusz (sophomore).
Golf:
The golf team is having a great season thus far! They opened the season with a top 10 finish at the K-Golf Classic and are currently 14-8 and undefeated in the division. In fact, they recently clinched first place in the NJAC American Division! The team also qualified for the State Sectional Tournament this past Tuesday and placed in the top 10. Sophomore Tyler Bienus shot a 78 and placed 12th in a field of nearly 70 golfers. Junior Captain Jonathan Song is also having a great season with an average of 6 strokes above PAR. Finally, sophomore Rachel Watkins recorded her first-ever hole-in-one this season! She Aced #2 at Minebrook with a 112-yard 8-iron. The odds of this incredible feat are 12,500 to 1 and are enjoyed by less than 2% of golfers each year. The team is looking forward to building on its momentum and finishing the season strong at the NJAC tournament at the end of May.
Boy’s Tennis:
The Mount Olive tennis team despite having a rebuilding season is having a competitive spring. Led by junior captain Bryan Thomas the marauders are currently 6-11 and are playing competitive tennis in most of their matches. First singles Bryan Thomas has posted an impressive 13-3 record-breaking win record for my season win at first singles and career wins at first singles. He has also qualified for the NJSIAA SINGLES tournament in June a feat not accomplished by a boys singles player in Mount Olive for over twenty years. The tennis team looks to finish their season strong and have a fun time at the Morris County Tournament.
