Mr. Pape & Ms. Smith
Sometimes you just have those years where you have the most challenging class you have EVER had in your life.…..well that is Tony Pape and Raechel Smith’s year! Both have had a growth-mindset with several things this year. These include, teaching new grade levels and subjects, having a new co-teacher to spend ALL your time with and having a new batch of kids who all have very different needs. They face each new day with a positive attitude and truly give all they have to their students each day. They also are very essential to the success of the 4th grade team! We are so happy to have them as a part of the NPE family!

Holiday Concert/Sing-a-long
If you weren’t able to attend the chorus concert last week you missed out on a real treat! Mrs. Ingraham put together a fun, engaging, 30 minute program and the students performed beautifully!
We thought it would be good for the whole school to get to enjoy this performance and have a few songs to sing along with as well so we have added this for the last day of the semester. The schedule is below. We appreciate your flexibility with this change and we hope you agree that nothing perks up your day like a good sing-a-long!
Thursday, December 20 Holiday Concert Schedule
8:00-8:30 – Grades 3-5 in the cafeteria (specials teachers will bring their classes)
8:45-9:15- Grades PreK-2 in the cafeteria (specials teachers will bring their classes)
STEAM DAY-February 14th
From the Media Center
Media Festival: Do your students like showing what they know using technology? They should consider entering the Georgia Student Media Festival; this is a state wide competition, beginning at the school level. If student projects score highly, they will progress to the next round (competing against other schools). Here is the link: http://www.gsmf.us/about.html For more detailed description, read the “Enter” tab. Dates for the school–level competition will be announced later. Ms. Bercher will have sign-up forms available soon.
Do you know how to use the RISO machine? It’s our high speed copier, and it should be used for any copy job of 30 or more AND for any paper other than regular copy paper (eg. Construction, card stock). Ms. Bercher held a brief training yesterday; there will be another one on Wednesday, 12/19 at 2:45 p.m. in the copy room.
Great Science Resource . . . Study Island!! It’s loaded and available on student and staff Launchpads and has wonderful, curriculum based lessons, articles, and games. This is a Fulton CS resource, paid for by the district. Check it out!! A quick start guide will be available soon on the shared drive.
Tech Tips from the Vanguard Team
Two great tools for using YouTube in the classroom
Have you ever wanted your students to watch a YouTube video without advertising, comments, and/or links to videos that might be inappropriate? Simply go to viewpure.com and enter the YouTube URL. Then, click “purify.” You will see a new link that provides a “pure” view.
Have you ever wanted to show a portion of a YouTube video? SafeshareTV allows you to crop videos before sharing them as well as remove comments and ads around YouTube videos.
Go to https://safeshare.tv/ and enter the URL of a YouTube or Vimeo video. You will get a new link that provides a “safe” view.
If you have questions about either of these, ask Kati Searcy
Fastbridge Testing
Good news!!! Not everyone needs to take the Fastbridge areading and amath assessments in January.
Who needs to take it?
Students at risk (<30%ile in the fall)
Students in RTI for that area
New students that haven't taken it yet.
Please let Christina McLeod know if you have questions or need help.
