Thank you to all that joined us for our exciting STEM Night! We had so much fun and hope that you did, too!

Our 3rd graders did a fantastic job on their music performance last night! Great job to all our musicians and a big thank you to Mrs. Amrein!

Please see the flyer below for information on a resource fair that the Antioch Police Department is hosting on Saturday, February 25th.

We are excited to be preparing for our 3rd Annual D34 Day (March 4th)! We will be having an entire week of activities throughout the district to celebrate February 27th - March 3rd.

We will once again be doing a Kindness BINGO board encouraging our students and staff to spread kindness. Participating students will be entered into raffles for prizes. We will also be hosting a district wide food drive and competition to support Open Arms Mission. There will also be a community blood drive (please see flyers below).

Our D34 week is also in conjunction with Read Across America week! We will be having a book fair here at Oakland and door decorating contests for our classrooms. We hope that you will join in the fun of celebrating pride in our district and service to our community and one another.

Clark Photography will be here March 7th to take Spring Pictures. All students will be photographed. This is a pre-pay program, If you pre-order they will send the packages to the school for distribution. If you do not pre-order, you will receive a link to order at a later date. Please note if you do not pre-order any photo packages, pricing will be different, and you will have to pay shipping for anything you order.

Please make sure that your child has headphones at school. They use them regularly, but will also need them for our state testing (IAR) that begins next month.

Please join Mrs. Adams on Monday, February 27th from 6 - 7 pm at the Lake Villa Public Library! Come and enjoy a few read alouds and share some of your favorite books with her, too!

Thank you to our Oakland family for supporting Student Council's Valentine's Day fundraiser sales. They were able to sell 465 slap bracelets and 1,100 Blow Pops.

Our Out of this World Read-athon kicked off this week! A HUGE thank you to all students/families who have already registered on the Get Movin’ fundraising site and started fundraising and tracking their reading minutes!

We are so excited to report that we are ALMOST halfway to our goal of $12,000!

If you have not registered online yet, you still have time, as the Read-athon does not end until Friday, March 3rd! There is still plenty of time to win fun prizes and entries to the raffles! As a reminder, if you do not wish to fundraise, students can still participate via the paper tracking log sent home last week.

Did you know that Oakland is participating in a Read-A-Thon sponsored by our Boosters?

What is a Read-athon?: It’s simple! A Read-athon encourages students to choose an age-appropriate minute reading goal for the entire month. Suggested minutes per grade level are listed below as a guide.

It is listed as:

The grade level / Recommended daily minute goal / Recommended 4 week minute goal

Kindergarten /10-20 / 200-400

1st / 15-25 / 300-500

2nd / 20-30 / 400-600

3rd / 25-35 / 500-700

4th / 30-45 / 600-900

5th / 30-60 / 600-1,200

There are 2 ways that your child can participate:

1. Set and complete a reading goal (this can be tracked on a paper log or online if your child will be fundraising)

2. Set a fundraising goal (this is tracked online)
