Pennies for Change
Recently, Builders Club sponsored the "Pennies for Change" Wars to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fight blood cancers. The sixth graders came out on top by collecting $900.22 while seventh grade raised $114.08 and eight grade raised $94.40. Everyone that donated was entered into a contest to pie a staff member. The lucky winners were Marianna Pizem and Tyler Craciun. Special thanks to Mrs. Soeder and Mrs. Lenczewski for being such great sports!

Club Spotlight: Academic Challenge
One fun club offered here at the middle school is the Academic Challenge. You may be thinking, what even is Academic Challenge? It is a fast-paced, JEOPARDY-style club made up of a fun group of about ten kids that meets after school every Thursday until 4:00. You also may think, what does the Academic Challenge team do? At practices, the team splits up into teams of four and tries to answers trivia questions about ANYTHING from science to movies to sports. Every once in a while, the middle school team will join the high school team and go to a fun tournament to compete against other schools. There is a set of rules, which is very easy to understand, that goes along with the questions, and it is a great way to meet new friends, have fun with other kids, and relax. So, if you think you might be interested, check it out! For more information, contact the leader, high-school student Frank Zhu, at his BBHCSD email, zhuf11@bbhcsd.org.

Run Off And Join The Circus
P.T. Barnum was a showman from the late 1800s. He is most famous for his hoaxes and the founding of the Barnum & Bailey Circus, which closed in 2017. His life was recently transformed into a feature film with original music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The movie is called The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, Zac Efron as Philip Carlyle, Zendaya as Anne Wheeler, Michelle Williams as Charity Barnum, and Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind. The movie has gotten mostly positive reviews, with a whopping 90% of audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. I enjoyed the movie and the music (as a music lover) and I do hope to see it again!
The actors were incredibly talented and the movie spread positive messages, though not being fully accurate to Barnum’s life. It spread many messages about embracing and being proud of who you are. Especially through the songs Come Alive and This Is Me.
Much of the middle half of the movie shows that the people of Barnum’s traveling show begin to get neglected by Barnum, who is moving onto bigger things, and realize that they don’t need him to tell them they are special to believe it. The movie gives off many positive vibes and messages, while having a witty and lighthearted story! I enjoyed it and do recommend.
