*Each week, The Clairemont Bulldog will feature a District Initiative Update to help communicate the ways Clairemont promotes CSD's District Improvement Plan to: Advance Educational Equity, Accelerate Student Achievement and Build a Positive Culture and Climate. We are grateful for your support and partnership and please let us know if you have any questions.
Author Visit August 30th We will have our first school wide author visit on Friday, August 30th. The author visit is being sponsored by our local business, Little Shop of Stories. A form will be sent home this Thursday and next Thursday to allow students an opportunity to purchase a book before the author comes to our school. All forms will need to be brought back by August 16th if you are purchasing a book. This provides students an opportunity to meet a real life author. Ryan Higgins who is an author and illustrator will read a book and he will stay afterwards to sign any books purchased by students. Each book costs $18 and 20% of the proceeds will go towards Clairemont Elementary. Look out for the book purchase form for more details. | Safety Tips Each week, The Clairemont Bulldog will feature a Safety Update to help communicate the ways we keep our students healthy and safe. We are grateful for your support and partnership and please let us know if you have any questions. Walk your Wheels Bicycle and scooter rides are a lot of fun and we love that our students are willing to have fun. However, while your child is in our care, we are asking that every student walk their wheels on the sidewalks adjacent to the school. We have a lot of feet criss-crossing to and from the school when they are leaving their mode of transportation (Buses, vans, and Cars) for this reason, we want you to walk your wheels to avoid any crashes or crushed toes. Nature Care Trees are a part of nature, however, at Clairemont we would love for us to show love towards our trees. We want you to admire and be inspired by the nature around us. We are asking for all students to show love towards our trees by staying off of them. Climbing the trees at Clairemont Elementary is not allowed. | Bulldog Media Center Students will get a chance to come to the media center starting on August 12th. Clairemont students will have a chance to participate in coding, read alouds, and makerspace activities. Accelerated Reader will be a big initiative this year. Each student will get a chance to checkout an accelerated reader book. After they read the book, they will have the opportunity to take an accelerated reader test. The Clairemont CREW will have the opportunity to come to the media center for leisure reading, or for an instructional lesson. |

Clairemont CREW School Routines
- School begins at 8 am. If your student arrives after 8 am then you will need to check them in at the school's main office.
- We were so excited to see everyone at the Meet and Greet, however, we do understand that the whole Clairemont CREW was not able to attend this exciting moment. During the meet and greet parents were asked to complete a student health form. Please fill out this form at your earliest convenience and have your child return it to their homeroom teacher at Clairemont Elementary. If you did not receive a copy of this form, one will be made available on August 8th in your student's Thursday folder.
- We feel that your child's health is very important to us here at Clairemont Elementary. If you have not called or emailed Nurse Cox please do so if your child has any allergies or other health concerns. Nurse Cox's contact information: chuff-cox@csdecatur.net or (404) 370-4450.
- Parents, beginning August 8th a Thursday folder will be sent home with your child each week. Please review the contents of the folder and return any requested information to your child's homeroom teacher.
