A Note from Ms. Owens

Hello Charger Families,

Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who came out to Back-to-School Night on Wednesday. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with so many parents and I look forward to working with you and your students! And thank you to Mrs. Fleckenstein for sharing her faith journey with us and reminding us that a lived and practiced faith will support us through the most challenging times of our lives.

On behalf of the school, I want to give a huge thank you to all of the people who worked so hard to make the carnival such a huge success. Because of their dedication, the carnival continues to raise much-needed funds to support efforts at both the school and the church. We are definitely a stronger community because of them!

A few parents have asked about when band will start. This morning after morning prayer, Mr. Gula met briefly with band students. Band will begin on Thursday, September 12.

Tomorrow, Friday, September 30, dismissal is at noon. We will not be eating lunch in school and there is no after school care.

I hope you and your loved ones are able to enjoy this three-day Labor Day weekend and find time to give thanks to the laborers and workers who do the work that helps our world run.

Peace,

Kristine Owens

Tuesday Hot Lunch Ordering

Ordering for Tuesday Hot Lunch will open next week on September 3rd. (The link will come in a separate email on that day.) The first hot lunch will be served on Tuesday, September 17th, and we are excited to share that McDonald's has been added to our line up this year. In fact, they will be serving our very first hot lunch this year.

All families need to update their students' profile with their new classroom to ensure that lunches are delivered at the proper time and to the proper room.

Beyond the Books

Our fabulous SCA teachers have put together some great opportunities for September's Beyond the Books classes. The different classes are listed on the registration form below.

All registration forms and payments are due to Mrs. Brown in Room 213 no later than Thursday, September 5.

Church Renovation Update

Abatement work is underway. All abatement work will be done after classes have been dismissed for the day. The church doors as well as the vents have been sealed, and the HVAC (air conditioning) for the church is not in operation. Abatement work will not involve the vestibule; entry and exit will happen via the wooden doors off the back parking lot.

We know families are concerned about the hot weather that often accompanies the start of the school year since we will not be able to use the church. Because masses are being held in the gym, we won't be having gym classes there and will be able to use it as cooling center. Additionally, once the HVAC in the church can be turned back on, we can use the vestibule too.
