Happy Fall! Happy October!

Dear Rolling Hills Parents and Guardians:

First of all, thank you very much for your assistance and cooperation as we close out the first month of the 2022-2023 school year! The faculty and staff of this fine school are sincerely appreciative of your willingness to work together in order to provide all of our students with a quality educational experience for your children.

As we move forward, we could use assistance with the following matters:

  • If you are picking up your child from school, please make every effort to wait until all "pick-ups" are called for dismissal at 3:30 p.m. When students are picked up earlier than the scheduled time, we must interrupt learning for all of the students in your child's class, since instruction needs to stop to assist students with packing up their items to bring home and reminding them of their homework. Thank you very much for your assistance and understanding!
  • Many of our students do not know their full (first and last) names or their Student ID numbers. Please take some time to "quiz" your child on this important information, which will help them remember this information as they purchase breakfast and lunch.
  • As the days--especially the mornings--turn a bit colder, please remember to label your child's clothing before they wear them to school. This will help keep our "lost and found" items to a minimum.
  • A "LOST AND FOUND" table is located outside the nurse's office. If your child is missing any items, please have them stop by the table sometime during the day to retrieve their lost belongings. Thank you!

I wish you all the best as we continue working together for the good of our students.

Take care,

Pauline F. Anderson, Principal

2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Comprehensive Health & Physical Education

This year, the students of Rolling Hills Primary School participated in the International Day of Peace by making pinwheels. The project, organized by Mrs. Kelly Benz, our Rolling Hills school counselor, was made available to all classes.

Some of the teachers shared their students' masterpieces for this month's Message.

This photo were shared by Mrs. Geary, a proud third grade teacher:

"Book Tasting" in Third Grade!

Big picture

Mrs. Annunziata and Mrs. Meyers shared photos from their "Book Tasting" event. Their students learned all about the different book genres throughout the week. Then students had the opportunity to go around to centers to "taste" or try out the various genres.

Everyone had a lot of fun exploring new types of books and even found some new favorites! After their "tasting", the teachers debriefed with their students about the experience.

Mrs. Kim White's Garden Update!

Mrs. Kim White recently served as a substitute librarian at Rolling Hills and also provided some updates on the garden. She has been involved with it the past several seasons and has been able to breathe new life into it. It's been a collaboration!

She recently fixed the gate and made corn stalks from our corn for display in the front of the school.

Mrs. Barbara Monschauer helped steer the planting with sunflowers, ornamental corn and mini pumpkins. Last spring, she rallied some people for donations and was able to get $150 in mulch and plants donated. All the students pulled their weight (or watering cans) and helped her water our plants each week in the spring.

She has spent more time pulling weeds than she is willing to share! But it's been worth it to see such a wonderful space!

In addition, (as seen below) the Girl Scouts came on board and adopted the back corner!

You can see the beautiful before and after pictures.

We also wanted to share that Mr. Nick Demsak played an integral in the creation of this wonderful space when he served as a teacher at Rolling Hills Primary School.

Thank you, one and all!
