e-Learning Days Approval
I am very excited to announce SLS has been approved by the State to conduct e-Learning days for the 2018-19 school year. This has been in the works for many months, but we received the news yesterday.
e-Learning will allow us to continue student learning on "snow days". It will be a change for students and staff from past years, but it eliminates the interruption of student learning.
Behind the scenes we have been preparing as though we would be approved, such as teachers creating and practicing e-Learning lessons. We will have much more information for you in August when we start school again.
Mr. Chad Moeller

Hail Mary full of grace!
Once a week a small statue of Mary went home with a different student in Mrs. Paul's homeroom. The statue was to be kept in a special place in the house where members of the family could honor Mary. How they choose to honor Mary was up to the family. It may have been with a family rosary, grace before the evening meal, or a morning or evening prayer together. Students then took a picture that was displayed all year in Mrs. Paul's room.

After School Care
It is our pleasure to announce, Mrs. Kathleen Flaspohler will be the 2018-2019 "After School Care Coordinator" for St. Louis School. Having Kathleen step into the Coordinator position will make this a seamless transition. She has done an amazing job this school year helping get our program off the ground.
We are looking to fill 1 assistant position, with possibly 2 people as a job-share opportunity, for the 2018-2019 school year. The hours will be 3:00-5:30pm. If you are interested, please follow-up with Mr. Moeller.

Army Sergeant gives presentation to Jr. High students
For the first time is SLS history, 37 junior high students enjoyed Sergeant Anthony Alexander's Army presentation in Mrs. Rose's literature class. Sergeant Alexander covered what it takes to enter the military from junior high to high school, stay in a branch, and the opportunities individuals have to serve our country. With 150 different professions offered in the Army, Sergeant Alexander spoke of the top importance to all branches....math and English classes!
He mentioned many, many times that games and simulations may be fun, but the military only wants the disciplined, hard working individuals to serve this great country. Ultimately, this means they MUST do well and take seriously both math and English. With less than 1% of civilians entering military life, we NEED this to protect our beautiful freedoms. Thank you, Sergeant Alexander, for serving the mission of bringing the next group of military personnel to the front lines.

Vocal Camp Opportunity
My name is Shannon Kramer Mullins, owner ofMiss Shannon’s Music Studio in Batesville, Indiana. Miss Shannon’s Music Studio is partnering with Batesville’s Rural Alliance for the Arts to bring a Summer Vocal Camp to the area. This camp is a unique opportunity that you won’t find anywhere else in Southeastern Indiana. I hope you will take time to read the information and offer it to your students. I am very excited to offer this to the local communities and hope that you will have your students take advantage of this wonderful Summer Vocal Camp!
The camp is June 18-22. Each day the students will participate in workshops and master classes starting at 10:00 am until 12:30 pm. There will be an emphasis on Musical Theater this year. The camp will be split into two groups, 8-13 working on musical theater technique, staging, auditions, breathing, diction and more! The second group, 14-24, will work on many of the same things while getting deeper into vocal pedagogy. Each student will also receive two private lessons with Jonathan and Samantha during the week. There is a performance by the couple at Batesville Music and Arts Festival on Thursday June 21. There is a student recital on Friday June 22. This recital is optional but recommended. It will be informal in the afternoon.
To sign up, have your students go to www.missshannonstudio.com and click on summer vocal camp to register or email missshannonstudio@gmail.com, call 812-212-6498. All prospective students will need a song prepared for the camp. The camp tuition is $100 for RAA members and $125 for non-members. The camp is offered for ages 8-13 and 14-24 in two separate groups, this years focus will be Musical Theater.
