The Time I Had Strep Throat
by Julia Parker
Pathogen
I learned that the cause of strep throat is a bacteria known as Streptococcus Pyogenes. It made my temperature rise and made me highly contagious.
Antigen
When you get a strep test, the doctors are looking for antigens. They use a test called rapid antigen test.
Antibody
Our bodies produce antibodies, that kill off the invading bacteria. During strep throat the antibody comes in after the immune system kills of the bacteria. But our immune system usually wins the batte]le.
Immune Response
Sometimes the immune sysytem will attack healthy tissues, causing complications such as rheumatic fever.
Phagocyte
The strep throat virus is known for attracting the phagocyte.
Line of Defenses
The first line of defense blocks out pathogens by the mucus membrane and skin.
The second line of defence is a group of cells, tissues and organs that work together to protect the body.
More into depth
- Strep throat is a bacterial infection in the throat and the tonsils.
- The parts of body are the throat, tonsils, uvula, and soft palate.
- The immune system recognizes the pathogen based on the cells protein present.
- If I get strep throat again, my antigens will know what the virus is and will be able to help immediately to try and attack it.
