MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the U.S. since 1949. Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. During May, NAMI joins the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. Each year we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. https://namitexas.org/mental-health-month/

End of Year Field Trips

We wanted to let you know that we are going to celebrate our scholars this year with a field trip to a water park at the end of the year. This field trip is specifically to encourage students to meet our school wide expectations for the remainder of the school year.

Attendance - Students may not have more than 5 absences for any class between 2/21/22-5/20/22. Covid related absences will not count against the student, but will require a self report form completed and proper documentation turned into the attendance office.

Tardies - Tardies will be reset on March 21, 2022 for the 4th nine weeks. After the reset, students may not have more than 7 total tardies for the 4th nine weeks, between 3/21/22-5/20/22.

ID Badge - Students need a hard plastic ID badge. A student that needs more than 10 temporary ID badges between Monday 2/21/22-5/20/22 will not be able to attend the field trip. Students will also need a hard plastic ID badge on the day of the field trip in order to attend the field trip.

Behavior - Students must meet behavior expectations. Any student assigned one or more of the following disciplinary actions will not be allowed to to attend the field trip:

  • 2 or more after school detentions

  • In School Suspension

  • Out of School Suspension

  • District Alternative Education Placement

Field Trip Payment - At this time the payment information is not available, but we will send out the information after the students vote on the water park they would like to attend. Payments must be made online in RevTrak, by the deadline that is posted. No late payments will be accepted. No in person payments will be accepted. If you pay for your student to attend the field trip and then they become ineligible because they do not meet the expectations, we will not be able to refund the money because of the reservation made with the water park and you will lose your money.

Nurse's Clinic

As your children receive their middle school immunizations, please remember to bring or send a copy of their updated immunization record to Ms. Lawana Garcia (WMS Nurse). Many of your children have probably already received these immunizations. For those who still need their updated vaccines, please make these appointments very soon. According to Texas state law, without proof of the required vaccines, your child(ren) will not be able to attend school and may be withdrawn. This is especially important for current 6th grade students who are entering 7th grade. Nurse Garcia can be reached at Lawana Garcia (Lawana.Garcia@HumbleISD.net) or 281-641-5205.
