SUHSD Teacher Induction links beginning teachers with experienced colleagues to ensure student success
As of this month, our program serves a growing number of participants:
- 247 Induction Candidates in all content areas at nearly all SUHSD school sites
- 64 Induction Mentors representing all content areas at nearly all sites
Our Goal: Quality First Instruction
SUHSD Induction Canvas Course Evidences Effective Instruction on an Ongoing Basis
Candidates and Mentors Collaborate to Document Proficiency in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs)
Second Quarter CSTP-related assignments include
- one observation of a colleague
- one observation by a colleague
- one lesson plan
- one unit plan
- one set of formative assessment artifacts (task/prompt, scoring guide/rubric, anchor papers)
- a description of a selected focus student
- a diagram of student grouping with rationale
- participation in a threaded discussion regarding the challenge of balancing protection of free speech and safety in the classroom
Additionally, Candidates generate an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to aid in personalized learning.
