PUSD Update

September 26, 2021

Message from the Superintendent

Dear PUSD Community,

I would like to thank our students, staff, and families for working together to keep our schools safe and healthy.

In our continuing response to the pandemic, we have sent our COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Submission form to every parent, guardian and student. We are asking that the form be completed by Thursday, September 30th so staff can review the information and respond to those who need additional assistance.

For those students over the age of 12 who have not been vaccinated, you can register for one at Marshall Fundamental School on Monday, September 27th. You can register for Marshall or select any of the other community vaccination options at myturn.ca.gov.

Substitute Teacher Rate Increase

We are also happy to announce that beginning tomorrow, September 27th until the end of the school year, our new daily rate will increase to $200 and for long term assignments, $250. This increase will allow us to be more competitive in our recruitment and sustainability plans to retain quality teachers for our children. Please help us by spreading the word to our community.

Kudos to Blair High School

The Armenian Academy at Blair High School Armenian International Baccalaureate (IB) Literature Class has been officially approved by the University of California. It has been added to the A-G list with Honors weight. It is the first of its kind in the world approved by the IB Organization outside of Armenia.

At the recent School Board meeting, the following celebrations were approved:

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15)

National Walk and Bike to School (October 6)

Week of the School Administrator (October 10-16)
