News from Mr. Younker:
Student Services – Counseling Office
Sophomores and Juniors took the new PSAT/NMSQT® test on October 14 along with over 3.9 million students across the country.
Please encourage your student to sign up at Khan Academy. In December, they'll be able to link their score reports to create free, personalized practice recommendations for the new SAT® launching in March 2016!
Freshmen: Southridge High School’s honor roll for the first nine weeks will be sent to local newspapers at the end of October. Students who qualify for the honor roll must earn a grade point average of either 3.5-3.99 or 4.0. Students must also be enrolled in at least five classes and cannot have any incompletes. Please see Mrs. Pulley with any questions.
Juniors: All juniors will take the ASVAB on Thursday, October 29th. The purpose of this career interest inventory is to help juniors learn about different career options. Seniors who need to retake the ASVAB for military enlistment purposes should talk to Mrs. Fowler or Mrs. Pulley. Please visit Guidance with any questions.
Juniors: Some juniors will be required to take a college- and career-ready assessment in November. ACCUPLACER Diagnostics measures math and reading comprehension skills students will need for college-level courses. Students who do not earn a score of “proficient” may require remediation. Parents of juniors who need to take ACCUPLACER Diagnostics will receive a letter in late October. Please contact Mrs. Pulley with any questions.
Did your student take an End-of-Course Assessment (ECA) last spring? If so, you will be receiving test results from the College- and Career-Ready portion of the ECA in the mail. These test scores did not affect your student’s progress toward graduation, but were still helpful in determining which students are considered capable of succeeding in college-level classes. Students who did not pass this portion of the ECA are able to request a rescore through the Indiana Department of Education. Please contact Mrs. Fowler or Mrs. Pulley if you need assistance requesting a rescore.
