A Message From Mrs. Aynesworth
Wow, what a year it has been! In this most unprecedented time in our history, our lives have been interrupted, our limits have been stretched, our perspectives have been shifted and our priorities have been redefined. But Spring has sprung and with it, a hope that the calamity will quiet and the chaos will calm. As we begin to move beyond the confines of a world pandemic, I am hopeful that we will no longer be in a place of merely surviving but triumphantly returning to a life of extraordinarily thriving! Get Ready AES... it's our time to THRIVE!
You may have heard the words, you may have seen the signs, the new TVUSD "BE SAFE" health screening is in place and made its debut on every school campus in Temecula on April 6th. All students, staff, and visitors must complete this health screening before entering our campus. Please be sure to review the daily required health screening and protocols and procedures for limiting exposure. We thank you for helping us promote a safe and healthy school campus.
As you can imagine, school is a busy place this time of the year and even more so after rallying from the effects of a pandemic! Just recently, we successfully transitioned 800 students back to the school building, and now, we are rapidly preparing for the end of our school year while busily preparing for the opening of a new one! Specifically, we will soon be hard at work placing students in classes for the 2021-2022 school year. We want you to know that the learning environment of each student is of primary concern to us, as is your child’s success. To provide each student with the best learning environment possible is no easy task! Let me share some of the processes with you:
When our TEAMS of teachers, specialists, and administrators create new classes, we consider the following criteria:
v Heterogeneous Groups
v Student Achievement Levels
v Gender Ratios
v Special Needs Students
v Social/emotional/behavioral needs
v Separating students who have difficulties working together
v Matching student learning styles with the teacher’s instructional style
v Level of student independence
v Student work and study habits
As an administrator, I visit classrooms daily. I observe teachers and students using many strategies to accomplish the tasks of teaching and learning together. I know the instructional skills of our teachers and I am confident in their abilities. I could not, in all honesty, tell you who the very best teacher on the faculty is because there is no one teacher who is best at everything. In talking about the “best teacher” one must specify “best in what area?” Teaching is made up of hundreds of skills and no one person is best at all of them. The knowledge I gain in these classroom observations and the relationship I have with your child helps me in selecting the best possible “fit” for both student and teacher.
As you can see that this is an involved and important process! To complicate matters further is the changes in grade level staffing and student enrollment numbers. Some of our teachers may be re-assigned to a different grade level next year, some teachers may change school sites, and others may be retiring. I do recognize that as a parent, you have valuable information about your child as a learner. If there are special concerns or desired outcomes that I need to consider for your child, please complete a parent input form below. The form is also available on our website and in our school office. The completed input form must be received by Friday, April 16th.
One last key ingredient to the success of this process is trust. I am asking you to trust our educational specialists to make the best possible placement with all the information at our disposal. We will do our very best in placing your child in a classroom where they will be the most successful!
I wish you and your family a beautiful, safe, and healthy Spring season. It is my privilege to serve this community as Principal and if there is anything I can do to support your student, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Get ready, AES, it's our time to THRIVE!

You will find an easy to print PDF link with the QR code.
And some questions and answers.
Questions & Answers
Whose email box do I find the daily reminder?
It will be in each of your student's email boxes.
You need to use the email for the person you are checking in. If a parent uses their email it checks them in, not the student. Your student's email is their student ID number that they use to sign in every day @tvusd.us.
If I sign up for daily text messages will I get one for each student?
There are some issues with the text messaging, we are working on this question.
We are learning more each day, and our site doesn't have all the answers, it is a work in progress. With that, we have started a shared Questions & Answer document (link below). As we get more answers we will update the link below, if you would like to add a Shortcut link to your Google Drive to review when help is needed.
Also below is a link to the Let's Talk communication for help with getting the emails and text messages.

Message from PTO
Hello AES Families, Teachers, and Staff,
Happy Spring Everyone!! We hope this newsletter finds you well. In this newsletter, you will find our PTO 2021-2022 Officer Election Ballot. Voting will take place on April 9th – April 14th. We invite you to please help us in electing our next year’s officers by clicking on the link below and voting. We would like to point out, that as of right now, we don’t have anyone to fill the President position. If we are unable to find someone to fill this position, we will not be able to continue as an active Non-profit Organization (501c3). This means the PTO will have to consider dissolving and no longer be an organization at our school. PTO organizes and holds the fundraisers and events for our students and provides additional funds outside of the school’s annual budget each year. In the last four years, PTO has contributed over $128,000.00 to support technology, safety, our library, field trips and assemblies, programs, and continuing to create a vibrant and welcoming learning environment for our students at Alamos. PTO organizes the annual Fall Festival, Book Fairs, Holiday Boutique, Grandparent’s Day, Fun Run and so much more. We would love to see our organization continue to thrive and support our AES students. If you are interested in serving as our next PTO President please write your name and number on the fill-in portion of the ballot under the President section. Please note that all PTO officers and board members have to be cleared through our school and district once we are allowed to operate on campus again. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our current PTO President at alamospto@gmail.com. The results of our election voting will be announced at our next General PTO Meeting on April 23rd at 1:30 P.M. via zoom. The Zoom link and log-in information are below. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Kindly,
Casey Rendon (PTO President) and The PTO Board

Looking for extra reading support? Check this out!
This has been a different kind of year, to say the very least. With only 8 weeks left until summer break you may be wondering, how can I help my child with their reading? Is there something I can do over the summer to keep my child engaged and growing in their learning? The answer to that is YES!! iReady!! Our district has adopted iReady for all elementary students and it is available for your child to use this school year and even through the summer. All students are able to work in iReady on their specifically designed program for their learning level. They can access this program 24/7. Students are working on the lessons automatically assigned to them based on their Diagnostic performance.
How can I help my child get the most out of i-Ready?
• Talk with your child about how using i-Ready at home will help him/her prepare for class work. (It will also show teachers where he/she is doing well and which topics need more review.)
• Encourage your child to use the tools provided during lessons and to use scrap paper to work out math problems.
• Help your child identify and become familiar with the different parts of the student home page (“My Assignments”, “My Stuff”, “My Progress”).
• Encourage your child to take each lesson and question seriously. Emphasize “thinking before clicking”. (Just clicking through will not give teachers an accurate report of what your child knows and is able to do.
• Discuss your child’s results by looking at the “My Progress” box with him/her.
• Contact your child’s teacher about how often your child should practice at home or with any other questions about iReady.
Are you the Parent of a Tk, Kinder, or 1st Grader?
Join us for 'Littles-n-Literacy', a virtual presentation hosted by Literacy Specialist, Victoria Moore. Save the date, April 28 and May 5th.

Parent Input & Returning Student Forms
A Social, Emotional, Learning Message...
As we continue in-person and online learning for the remainder of the year, students may still have a mixture of feelings. They’ve been out of the routine of going to school for so long that it is reasonable that they might struggle, and they might also take a little bit longer to adapt, especially to these hybrid schedules. Most children will have that excitement of coming back to school after so many months at home learning that it will outweigh the potential worry or anxious feelings. However, some children who already worry or have anxious feelings might be more prone to worry or feel anxious. Parents you now have a complicated mission of helping your children through these mixtures of feelings. Reassuring that it is safe to be away from you, while also encouraging them to be careful and preparing them to be flexible in case the situation changes. Here are some pointers to help you.
Parents, it’s important to stay calm and positive. If your child is feeling worried or has negative feelings it is important to validate their feelings, give them space to express it, and help them come up with strategies or something they can do to help manage these feelings.
Help them think positively. Help your child focus on positive things daily, try to get them to talk about the good things about school. What are you looking forward to? What did you enjoy the previous day?
Have a routine. Have the same routine every school day for consistency and to ensure that your children are to school on time (in person or online learning). Have children go to bed at the same time, get up in the morning early enough to: have breakfast, brush their teeth, get dressed, have everything they need ready and prepared for school, and have plenty of time to get to school on time.
Encourage flexibility. Have open communication with your children daily. Help them to understand that we all have to be flexible and things might change between now and the end of the year due to the uncertainty of Covid. Allow your children to come with questions they may have so that you can make sure that they have all of the information they need.
Establish more family time. Have time at the end of the school day to do activities with your children. Get kids outside to be active, play a game together, build something or do a craft, and/or make dinner together. This is also a great time to talk with your children about how they are feeling and how their day was at school.
