A thought or two from Mr. Nieslanik
And in addition, we have had over 200 students take IB and AP exams with another full week of IB and AP testing in front of us. If I were to add up the number of students engaged in something beyond classwork it would easily be over 50% of students empowering themselves to be the best they can be!
As we head into the last 12 school days for seniors and 21 days for the remaining students, I ask that we keep focused on doing the best we can in school. Attendance is a critical part of academic success, as well as completing out-of-school work. We ask parents and guardians to continue to support us by ensuring your student(s) attend and complete their homework! Thanks in advance!!
It is always a good day to be a Skyhawk! Until next time,
David
State Assessment Scores
Beginning this year, state test scores are available in ParentVUE! You will be able to see your child’s test results sooner than in prior years with less impact on the environment.
For the English Language and Math tests, a student’s score is available in ParentVUE two weeks after both parts of the test are completed. Science test scores are available in Parent VUE three days after the test is completed.
The Testing Information tab in ParentVUE has links to additional information about your child’s scores. If you need assistance activating a ParentVUE account, please contact the school office. Note: these scores are not currently available in the ParentVue phone app.
Students whose parent/guardian does not have an active ParentVUE account will receive a paper report of test scores over the summer. Students with at least one parent/guardian with ParentVUE access may request a printed report by contacting Kay Jenkins by email at kay_jenkins@beaverton.k12.or.us or by phone at 503.356.4594.

International Students are Coming
Host families are needed for several international exchange students coming to the Beaverton area in August for the 2018/19 school year. These amazing young people are between the ages of 15-18 and are excited about coming to the US for one year of high school. A family can choose to host for a few months or the entire school year. Go to https://www.ciee.org/partner/hosts/host-families/host-exchange-student for more information. Southridge PTO is not affiliated with CIEE.
Volunteer Corner
Be ready for the 2018-2019 School year! Apply for your BSD background check so you can volunteer and be part of our amazing Southridge community.
If you are already a cleared volunteer for your middle school, please send an email to add SRHS to your profile: updates_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us. And, to keep district records current, you can also remove yourself from your middle school, if you will not be volunteering there next year.
We love and appreciate our volunteers here at Southridge. Thank you for the generous donation of your precious time to make our school great!
All BSD Volunteers must be background checked for the safety of our student community. If you are planning on helping in any capacity with Southridge such as PTO sponsored events, including drama, band, sports or color guard you MUST develop a profile and background check in our new volunteer system MyVolunteerPage. You may do this by going to the Southridge website at beaverton.k12.or.us/schools/Southridge. Then click on "Volunteer and background check information" on the bottom left and follow the instructions. It takes about 1 minute and you will be notified when you are cleared to volunteer.
Thanks again for all you do for Southridge.
