STAFFING CHANGES:
We have a few staffing moves for the 2017-2018 school year:
- Ms. Irwin is moving on from her SCORES job here at Doss.
- Mrs. Gall will move into that SCORES special education position.
- Ms. Hodges will move back to third grade.
- We still have the following open positions: kinder -2 positions, 5th grade 1 position(all subjects), SPED resource and Life Skills. We are working hard to review all applicants and get interviews scheduled.
ISIP EOY TESTING WINDOW:
The end of the year testing window for ISIP on Istation has arrived! Please test students either in the computer lab or classroom. The deadline for testing is May the 19th. Please let Leah know if you need help with testing or interpreting results.
GRADES:
Retention Forms due to Pat no later than Friday May 12th. Proper documentation is required if you are retaining or placing a child for next year.
- Promoted – All students are automatically promoted. These are students that are at grade level and ready to move on to the next grade for the 2017-2018 school year.
- Retained – If a student is retained, a meeting must be held and documentation is required. These are students that will stay in their current grade for the 2017-2018 school year.
- Placed – If a student is placed, a meeting must be held and documentation is required. These are students that are on the cusp of being retained, and a committee met to decide that they would be ‘Placed’ in the next grade for the 2017-2018 school year.
Report card posting window opens next Wednesday May 17, 7:00 am and closes May 25 at 6:00 pm.
KRONOS TRAINING:
KRONOS training will be provided to all staff that clock in and out. This includes all TAs, retire/rehires, and office staff. (Custodians and cafeteria staff are not included in this round of training). Doss is scheduled to receive this training on May 17th from 3:15-4:15 in the Doss Jane Willis Library. KRONOS is our new time keeping system.
OWL'S NEST:
Do you have a student or family in need of clothing/shoes? We want any needy student at Doss to have the opportunity to come "shop" in the Owl's Nest before the summer break. Please send the name of these students to Shanna Riggsbee, and we will set up a time for them to come to the Owl's Nest.
READING INTERVENTION SCHEDULE CHANGES
The last day for small group instruction will be 5/12 . Teachers will contact you with assessment schedule for week of 5/15 and 5/22 as needed.

COMPUTER LAB NEWS
The Computer Lab will be closed for STAAR Monday through Wednesday (May 8-10). The following week, the lab will be closed for AAPPL (Chinese testing) May 16-19. We have a class set of Chromebooks you can check out during May 16-19 if you want to do the ISIP benchmarks in your room.
Please remember to monitor kids when they are using devices that can search the internet. We have had some reports of students searching for inappropriate things on our student devices. AISD has filtering software on their servers that blocks access to images that are obscene, pornographic, inappropriate for students, or harmful to minors, as defined by the federal Children's Internet Protection Act.
Additionally, there are browser setting that can provide extra protection. Google Chrome has a setting called Safe Search which is turned on as a default for all our Chromebooks and desktop computers. iPads have website restrictions you can set by going to Settings > General > Restrictions > Websites. Please use 0154 as the pass-code when you set the restrictions. Contact James if you would like him to set these this up on your iPads.
