Second Grade Swag!
September 28th - October 1st
What We Are Learning This Week
Language Arts: We will be learning about consonant digraphs, fact/detail and imperative and exclamatory sentences. We will also be writing a play scene!
Social Studies: Students will continue to explore the question, how are communities different? We will explore different kinds of communities, learn about the features, advantages, and disadvantages of urban, rural, and suburban communities, learn how Levittowns were built and create a collage of images from different communities. We will wrap up our question by making bar graph showing each student's preference for each of the three types of communities.
Science: This week we will look at how our actions affect the earth and learners will be completing a research project on this issue. Examples include the effects of littering, pollution, and oil spills.
Math: We will be starting to look at addition strategies for math. We will begin by learning our doubling facts and doubles plus 1.

Kindergarten Color Days!
Kindergarten will be learning how to read and write the color words, as well as recognize the different colors and use them for patterning activities. We think this will be a fun opportunity for our students to see the color they are learning about all over the school. On the designated day, please have your child wear the following colors, if they want! Thanks!
October 1 - Green
October 8 - Black
October 15 - Brown
October 22 - Orange
