Mrs. Brown and Mr. Dale Team Up for Flipgrids
The second graders in 2B created Thanksgiving Flipgrids with Mr. Dale our tech integrator. The children created videos where they expressed appreciation and gratitude to their family. A few children chose to record in their native language. The students put their QR codes into Thanksgiving cards. The Flipgrids will be available for viewing over the Thanksgiving break.
Mrs. Santucci's Students Participate in Philadelphia Zoo "Unless" Contest
The concept of the UNLESS Contest is to have students (K-12) research and choose an animal (from those identified by the Zoo) that is currently facing a challenge due to human interaction. The animals on the list are either endangered or “vulnerable.” Students are asked to select one animal and then at least one challenge that the animal is faced with and research, plan and implement a project that will positively impact the animal by working to improve change human behavior and raise awareness of how our actions affect the animals and environment.
From the School Counselor
Close your eyes, take a big inhale and exhale then notice what you feel with your biggest body part, your skin. This is a time of year of transitions where the weather changes, and everyone may feel a different sensation or reaction to it. There is something that you can do to adjust feelings of discomfort. Talk to your child about how long they are in the cold air to notice a change in their body temperature or how long it takes to warm up. After noticing this, talk about what they can do to keep their temperature more consistent. It might be fun to do an add on by using a thermometer and creating your own data chart.
