Breakfast with Boyd

Wednesday, Nov. 13th, 8:45am

795 Wilder Street

Lowell, MA

Please join us as the new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joel Boyd, visits the Washington School for breakfast on November 13, 2019 at 8:45 AM. We will have a light breakfast for all attendees. All families that attend will get a homework pass for their child. We will also raffle off a gift card after the breakfast. Please RSVP below!

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Our chronic attendance rate hurt our school's report card last year. Chronic attendance is defined as 18+ absences for the school year. It does not matter if the absences are excused. If your child is sick, please stay home. Otherwise please send him/her to school. We review attendance each day and will be checking in with families with students with many absences. Please encourage having your child go to school each day.

It is getting colder. Students go outside for recess if the windchill factor is above 26 degrees in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control guidelines. Please make sure your child is dressed correctly for outside recess. Although it may be cold, the students tend to learn better if they get to run around in the middle of the school day.

Emergency Practice Drills

In conjunction with the Lowell Police and Fire Department we will be practicing drills prior to Thanksgiving break.

We will practice the following:

1. Soft / Hard Lockdowns

2. Weather Emergency - Tornado Warning

You will be notified in writing the week of these practices and a phone call will go home the day of the drills to confirm completion.

December 5 - Picture Retakes

December 5 - Report Cards

December 5 - Parent Conferences

December 11 - Early Release Day - 12:50PM

December 17-19 - Holiday Mall

December 20 - School closes for Holiday break after school. We reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Weekly Communication

Going forward we will complete both the phone calls and emails even though our phone data shows most people are hanging up when the call is made. We completed a poll on Facebook and at least 50% of the respondents still wanted phone calls. Phone calls and emails will be sent on Sundays for the upcoming week and all information will be on the website. Please keep us updated with your email and phone number. The website and this newsletter can both be translated into 100 languages.

Free Wolfpack T-Shirt

All kids will receive a Free Washington Wolfpack Navy Blue T-shirt. We will be ordering them soon. Additional orders for families will come out soon giving you a chance to order sweatshirts, hats, and additional t-shirts.
