GBEC - Early College Recommendations
Good Afternoon!
We recently closed our Grand Blanc Early College application window for the enrollment of the 9th cohort. We are looking for staff recommendations as we enter the final stages of our recruitment process.
If you are willing to share this email with your staff, I will include the recommendation link below. All submissions are confidential. We would like all recommendations submitted by Friday, January 27th.
Last year the request was made to supply a list of student names, I have included that link below as well.
We appreciate any and all assistance!
MLK Day ON - Lots of WMS representation with families, students, and staff participation
NEWA - Pilot Testing Window (January 24 - February 3)
Hi everyone,
Thank you for attending last week’s training for the NWEA Map Growth Test. As a reminder, the testing window is January 24-February 3. Please make every reasonable attempt to test all of your students within the first two weeks. If you have a group of students who missed the test on your initial test date, you could schedule a “makeup day” during the third week where other students are doing different work. Important reminder – 3rd and 6th grade teachers also need to do the STAR test for this year only.
If you don’t remember how to set up sessions, here is a Proctor Quick Guide from NWEA. There are multiple “options” for setting up your session on this document. Lisa showed you “Option 2” during your training. These instructions also show you how to pause, test again, and resume. For those of you who teach semester courses, your S2 courses should now be available in NWEA. Changes to classes sync overnight as students are added to your roster.
In order for students to access the NWEA Map Growth Test, it is not done through ClassLink or Clever. It is similar to how they access the digital M-STEP test, for those of you who have given it. Here are the detailed directions for students to login to the NWEA Secure Testing site. This information is also available in the NWEA Pilot Guide on pg. 10.
Accommodations: There were some questions about the appropriate accommodations for NWEA. Please see clarification below, or pg. 5 of the NWEA Pilot Guide.
- Math Test:
- IEP and 504 accommodations, as necessary
- 3rd Grade - enable audio for students who are more than one year below grade level on the reading assessment
- Reading Test
- IEP and 504 accommodations, as necessary, but do not read the test
If you are an elementary teacher and feel that you need one-on-one assistance on the day of testing, please reach out to Amy, Jami, or Jenna to schedule one of them to be in your room. If you are a secondary teacher, reach out to me, and I’ll find a way that someone can support you.
Please reach out with any additional questions. I think I covered all of the things that needed follow-up from the training, but don’t be afraid to tell me if I missed something!
Thank you,
Allyson Walroth
