CHOIR PERFORMS AT CHRISTMAS PREVIEW
On Sunday, November 20th the newly formed Bidwell Choir, under the direction of Mr. Tanner Johns and Ms. Anna Perkins, performed twice as part of the Downtown Business Association Christmas Preview. The group sang several songs during the event, adding holiday cheer and spirit to the streets of Chico. In the above video, one can hear the group performing the very end of our songs of peace; a collection of songs that can be sung while overlapping with each other simultaneously.
The group will be performing again on Wednesday, December 21st as part of the Bidwell Jr. High School Winter Concert. This concert will be at the Pleasant Valley Center for the Arts at 6 PM. Tickets are $5.

8th GRADE STUDENTS
ALLI WILLIAMS NAMED REGIONAL WINNER FOR WRITING CONTEST!
A month ago, the gardening class at Bidwell Junior High submitted stories to the Imagine this…story writing contest. The contest was conducted by the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Student stories had to include accurate information regarding California commodities, and had to be written in a fun, creative way. I am very excited to announce that our very own Allison Williams is a regional winner. Her story, Grace and her Garden, along with one other 6th grade student were identified as the best for that grade level in our Northern California Region. Congratulations Alli!

W.E.B. LEADERS INSTRUCT THEIR PEERS!
We are excited to share with you some recent W.E.B. program happenings. A group of our 8th grade WEB leaders took on the responsibility of becoming teachers themselves and went into 6th and 7thgrade classrooms to deliver a lesson to their younger classmates. The lesson was about the power of a positive attitude and these leaders really went above and beyond to complete the training and delivery of these lessons. We could not be more proud of them and the positive impact they are having on the school culture of Bidwell Jr. High!
GIVING TREE
The Counseling office has three Giving Trees! One at each Jamba Juice location on East Ave. and Forest Ave. We also have a tree in the counseling office. All of the gifts will go to our Bidwell students! CJSF students who are looking for a community service, you can come into the counseling office and grab a gift tag off of our giving tree. This will count as one of our community service requirements.
DRAMA DEPARTMENT NEWS
Bidwell’s drama class is finishing up an exciting first semester with group performances of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Students are seen in these photos practicing their lines from their assigned scene. The final project we will work on this semester is Radio Plays. Students will learn about and listen to radio plays from the 1940’s, write their own play (including commercials), and then perform their plays during the last week before winter break. Emphasis is on voice inflection, sound, and creativity.

ART & SCIENCE COLLIDE!
Our eighth graders just finished traveling our amazing Solar System with their awesome Space Tourism companies. They are creating a unique masterpiece to remember it by with the Astronomy Art project. Students painted poster board with bright colorful tempura paint and then covered their page with lids of various sizes. They then spray painted the back ground adding stars and comets to enhance their images of space. Finally they removed the lids and revealed their beautiful creations of our Universe. It is a very fun and exciting project for all involved. We are very proud of them!
ATTENTION CJSF MEMBERS!
FOOD DRIVE
The Bidwell Leadership Class is sponsoring our annual food drive this year. All food collected will go to support the "Tis the Season" Holiday food drive sponsored by the Salvation Army, Tri Counties Bank and Action News Now. Students can drop off canned food or other non-perishable food items in their 1st Period classroom or in the barrels in the Main Office or Room 408. Food will be collected at Bidwell until December 19. Thank you for your support!
BLAST TACKLES MORE SCIENCE!
BLAST has done another Science Experiment with 25 kids choosing to do science instead of dodge ball, tech lab, or art. Very interesting looking density lab Thursday at BLAST and above is the result. Once again, great job Ruiz for explaining density and mass to our BLAST students.
