A Message from our Principal, Mr. Pflugrath...
Dear Osbourn Family,
I hope this finds you and your family well and safe. Thank you for your patience and cooperation this week as we were dealing with some technology update issues. I apologize to our students and families. I realize your time is a valuable and finite resource. You have my word that we will make it right, we can do better, and will do so. I know many of you had to come into school on multiple occasions to get the technology problem fixed. We believe this issue has been resolved at this point, however if you should run into any technology concerns, you are welcome to come by any day from 8 am to 3 pm. I want to thank our technology team for their quick response and corrective action. The technology fix information is also posted on our website and in Schoology.
Please continue to be vigilant in being safe. Do it for yourself, and do it for the others around you. The expectation at school and school events is to wear your mask, remain social distant when possible, and wash your hands routinely. Overall, as a school, our students have done a terrific job this year and we will finish the year on a good note. We will make it through this together, in a safe manner. We are all part of the #OneOsbourn family and I expect all of our students to be respectful to one another. Parents, please hug your child and tell them it was from me! I am honored and humbled to work for you. Our Osbourn students are remarkable and I am proud of them.
As always, thank you for your continued support and please reach out if you have questions. Have a great rest of your weekend and I look forward to speaking with you again next week!
#OneOsbourn
Sincerely,
Mike Pflugrath

Congratulations to Coach Whiting and the Osbourn Football Team for their 4-2, winning season.
OHS had hard fought wins over Unity Reed, Osbourn Park, and Forest Park. This marks the first winning football season in ten years. Not only did our players win, but they won with class, by maintaining a perfect sportsmanship record the entire season. #OneOsbourn proud!

It Takes a Village….
We are so thankful for your patience and understanding with Osbourn High School and the tablet situation this week. Every time we thought we had it nicked, something new presented itself, but we feel confident we have rounded the corner. Please continue to let us know when there is a problem so we can begin the process of solving/fixing the issue as soon as possible.
Thank you to all the students/guardians who provided us with pictures and detailed explanations of what was happening at home. That part was baffling at first but after more information we got it.
Thank you to all the students/guardians/older siblings who shuttled tablets to the campus to get the issue fixed. Some of you had to return several times. We are so sorry for the inconvenience. Each time you returned you gave us more valuable information that helped us to be more successful in solving the problems.
Thank you to of Osbourn’s staff/faculty and the extra help from Central Office that jumped in where needed to help triage the situation and help keep us moving forward. From fielding phone calls and emails, data entry, greeting guardians/students as they entered the building, helping to get returned tablets ready to go back to students, cleaning tables and pens for our safety, posting/updating our website/schoology/newsletter with what was next, providing us the guidance as to how to fix the issues as each new issue presented itself, and just asking if there was anything you could do to help as well as everything else I may have forgotten to list here to get us through this bump in the road. What a blessing to have such a team, way to go
#OneOsbourn.
Wishing You a Wonderful Day,
Mrs. James

FortiClient Error on Student Tablets
Attention Students:
If you see the FortiClient window, you must click Install Later not Install Now then STOP and come to an MCPS building to connect to the school’s wireless network.
You will only go through this process one time.
FortiClient must be updated byming to Osbourn HS and logging on to the OHS wireless network. Activation can be done without entering the school building. A zero contact self-service option is to drive up to the school building and park outside the large Library windows. Look for the large blue book return bin. Or, if walking to OHS, sit on the bench beneath the overhang by the Main Entrance door to be in range of the network. Other locations outside of the school building may also work if you are able to connect to OHS’ wireless network - this is the key.
- To access our network, restart your tablet and log-in. Verify you are on our wireless network by visiting any website. This will allow you to test your wireless connection.
- To start the FortiClient installation, you must run the FortiClient Diagnostic Tool following the steps in this FortiClient Update Steps Document.
- You must restart your laptop at the end of the steps in the Document before leaving our wiresless network. The tablet will ask you to "Reboot" or "Restart" your tablet. It is important to do this!
If you need further assistance please come in to the building. Technology support will assist you wearing masks and socially-distanced in the OHS Cafeteria. You may also make an appointment for a certain time using the D.A.D appointment request online calendar linked in this text.
From our OHS Clinic...Please read if you have a RISING SENIOR!!!!
Per a new Virginia State Code, all students entering 12th grade for the upcoming school year, 21-22, will be required to have a meningitis vaccination. This is a new state requirement. A letter was sent out and is posted on the OHS website with more detailed information. Please submit proof of this vaccination to the school clinic prior to the start of the school year. If you do not provide this information, your student will not be given a schedule or allowed to begin the school year. Please submit the vaccination records via email to: ssteindler@mcpsva.org. Contact our nurses in the OHS Clinic with any questions through the end of May at 571-377-7012.

April is the Month of the Military Child
Each year, our nation designates April as the Month of the Military Child to recognize and thank children from military families for the sacrifices they make living the military lifestyle. During the month, one day is selected as the day to “Purple Up! For Military Kids” and all are encouraged to wear purple in recognition of the strength and sacrifices of military-connected youth. Why purple? Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue. This year, Purple Up! day will be celebrated on April 21.
Military connected youth face unique circumstances living the military lifestyle. By understanding the lifestyle of military-connected youth we can better meet their needs as they transition with their family members who serve our nation.
Celebrating the Month of the Military Child provides a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and build support to help these children meet the unique challenges they face! It is an opportunity to recognize and thank military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices and continued resilience.
Osbourn High School is proud to recognize all military-connected children this April during Month of the Military Child. Each year we join our country in celebrating the resiliency of military-connected children for their tremendous service and sacrifice at home in the U.S. and overseas.
Graduation 2021
Dear Class of 2021 students and families,
We wanted to communicate a change in venue and date and time of the Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony. In light of the most recent information from the Office of the Governor of Virginia related to graduations and/or commencement events, we learned that outdoor venues such as Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, would be a viable option for this year’s ceremony. Therefore, I am excited to announce that the new date and time and venue for the Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony is Friday, May 28, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia. Each graduating senior will receive up to four (4) tickets for those who wish to join us for this joyous occasion. The limitation for guests is necessary to ensure that we comply with the Governor’s mandatory requirements. More information is forthcoming. Please contact Ms. Cathy Sanders (csanders@mcpsva.org) or Mr. Tim Thomas (tthomas@mcpsva.org) if you have any questions. We are thrilled that we are able to offer this culminating experience for our Seniors.
