Stanwood Middle School
Family Update - February 6th, 2021
Good morning Stanwood Middle School Families!
As you know by now the District is targeting February 22nd as a return date for our middle school students. Earlier this week the District sent out a survey to families regarding returning in a Hybrid Model.
Click here to fill out the survey if you haven't already completed it. Thank you in advance!
You should have also received the Secondary Return Family Communication with many links embedded. If you did not please click on it below and you will the information.
If you have any requests or questions about scheduling, especially if you would like to match your SMS student with an Elementary sibling's schedule, please contact our counselor at kfox@stanwood.wednet.edu.
We want to begin to prepare our students for a safe return. We will be sending much more information regarding our safe return to school. For now, please see some reminders below as we begin to prepare ourselves for February 22nd. You will also see many safety protocols listed in the Secondary Return Family Communication.
Spartans Stay Safe
As we get closer to the return of students to Stanwood Middle School, you and your Spartan will see videos and posters (examples below) to reflect student expectations to keep everyone safe and healthy at school. We are continuing to get the school ready for students following all health department guidelines. Spartans have been doing hard things all year; together we can do this together too!
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We will be sending much more information as we move closer to a return.
Have a great weekend!

A message from our Counselor Ms. Fox!
"How Big is My Problem" Tool
Hello Everyone! This week, we had short Class Meetings because students had Advisory class as well, in which they had a Character Strong Lesson.
I did a brief check-in with students about things they look forward to post-pandemic. It was fun to hear what students are excited to do again once this time is behind us!
Then I shared another tool for students to use called “How Big is My Problem?” (image below). I encouraged students to use this scale at school and at home as another way to communicate and problem-solve when they are having a hard time.
Hybrid schedules are beginning, Vaccinations are happening, Spring is on the way — We will continue to get through this time together! Please let me know if your student could use some extra support: KFox@stanwood.wednet.edu

Because we are not able to be in person this year Mr. Wall, our wonderful multimedia, yearbook and keyboarding teacher, has put together a slideshow to allow families to see faces, to see what peoples roles are in the building, and to see contact information for everyone!
