Fostering A Growth Mindset

Take a look at these smiling faces. This photo was taken AFTER our school spelling bee this past Friday morning. Eleven great spellers started out on stage and in the end only Micah remained, but ALL participants remained positive and confident. That's because they have a growth mindset.

Having a growth mindset is more than just positive thinking. It is the understanding that our abilities and capacity to grow can be developed through dedication and hard work. Take a look at this LINK to gain a better understanding of this concept and to help you foster a growth mindset in your children.

Warmly,

Mr. Lynch

"Anything But a Backpack" Spirit Day - Jan. 27

Anything But A Backpack Day is when students come to school carrying their supplies in different (often funny) household items. There are no real rules except that it can't be dangerous and it can't be a backpack! Here's a LINK to some fun ideas!

Wildwood Talent Show

Our annual Wildwood Talent Show will take place on March 10 at 6:30pm. A link will be posted here in the Wildwood Weekly newsletter on Sunday, January 29 for families to help their students sign-up to perform in the talent show. All acts must be 15 students or less.

To see more details about talent show preparation, click HERE to view the Talent Show Flyer that went home in Wednesday folders on January 11.

JogAThon Call For Volunteers

We need your help! Our JogAThon is our biggest fundraiser of the year AND the most fun time for our students. We need your help to make it happen. Our JogAThon Committee will hold its first meeting on Friday, January 20th after drop-off in the office. While Jog isn't until April 6th it takes LOTS of planning and teamwork (plus we do lots of fun things for the kids leading up to the actual big day!). Not sure if you can help or want more info? Join us on the 20th or message Sarah Casey at sarahbsheppard@Hotmail.com.

Come be a part of our PTA JogAThon Committee!

We Need Your Photos!

Did you take any great first-day or event pictures? Photos from music or chorus performances? Your kiddos dressing up for Red Ribbon Week?

We would love to have them for the yearbook!

Please email your photos to Sarah at sarahbsheppard@hotmail.com.

Reflections Art Contest Update

Let's congratulate our two Wildwood students who moved on to the District Show! The District show was on January 10th, where our students received a special award and acknowledgment. This is quite an accomplishment as only ONE entry per category moved forward from the Conejo Council Show. Both students' art will move to the next round of judging against 6 Councils and over 100 schools! Congratulations and good luck to:

Benjamin Zone - 1st grade - Film
Shirin Loo - 2nd grade - Literature

School Cents | Submit Your Receipts!

Thank you Wildwood for all your continued efforts and support! We were able to donate over 80 toys for the holiday toy drive! I'm sure we brought many smiles to these foster kids during the holidays!

Remember to save those receipts from The Oaks. Did you do a lot of holiday shopping or dining out? Submit those receipts at the front office or text receipts to Jen at (909)374-1598. We will earn 4X the points until January 15th.

Free Online Tutoring to all California Residents - Available 24/7

As previously communicated, the state of California has made available 24/7 free online tutoring through a new initiative offering homework help in every K-12 subject.

To make accessing this resource even easier, the CVUSD has added a link (Brainfuse icon) to this free online tutoring program directly in each CVUSD student’s Classlink account.

Health and Safety

It is important that all positive cases of COVID-19 are reported to the health office. If your student tests positive for COVID-19, we need to know in order to ensure we are supporting your student through their recovery. The health and safety of our student body and staff is a top priority. If you have any questions or concerns related to COVID-19, please reach out to our office.

Free COVID Test Kits

The district has once again provided free COVID tests for students. Please come by the front office if you would like a 2-pack at home test kit.
