Mr. B's Welcome Lights
It's time to get ready after a terrific summer!
What do I do when I get to the playground?
In our continuing efforts to bring children into our school in a safe and orderly manner, the first day can be a challenge, still we will get the job done. The 5K-gr. 4 children will line up to enter school in lines with a designated number. Look for your child(ren)'s number from the list below and you will be all set for Thursday, Sept. 1st. Our teachers will be out there as well for the first few days to calm fears and offer great smiles.
5K Brown 18; Heinz 19; Westrick 20; vonThun 21
Gr. 1 Bakkum 25; Heinze 24; Losik 23; Venti 22
Gr. 2 Cleary 14; Kenney 15; O'Connell 16; Schwartz 17
Gr. 3 Frei 7; Krajewski 8; Krogmann 9; Pizzo 10
Gr. 4 Aleshire 1; Czerwonka 2; Karrells 3; Kircher 4; Lewandowski 5
4k will enter on the southside of the building near their classrooms.
The students will use these numbers for arrival each day of school. We enter promptly at 8:40 AM.
News about our staff
I ahev some news about our teaching staff to keep you up to speed on who's where and what's going on. Mrs. Cleary sustained a serious leg injury and is currently recovering. We have a guest teacher, Mrs. Meissner, for the first 6 days of school. We will continue our search of a highly qualified educator to take over on the 12th. Mrs. Venti will be taking a maternity leave until November and we are in the process of securing a guest teacher for class also. Brenda Jones (lit. coach), Becky Pizzo (gr. 3), and Vickie Moore (speech) are our new faculty members. We welcome them and their terrific attitudes and practices.
Summer Reading Logs
Mrs. Shannon, who has since moved on to Franklin Schools, reminded you in June about the summer reading program. You may turn in your reading logs directly to me upon returning to school. We will have a celebration of your summer reading and recognize all those who participated. Way to go READERS!
Fountas and Pinnell Reading Assessments
Your children have been getting assessed and some will have the opportunity on Wednesday, Aug. 31st. These results will aid the teachers in placing the children at the correct reading level to begin the school year. Their levels will change over the course of the year as the children improve and incorporate reading strategies into their daily practice. This is an important part of our school program and we appreciate your support.
# 20 for the Primary School
OUr Merton Primary School opened its doors in August of 1996. This makes 2016 the 20th anniversary of this terrific place to learn and play. Our school is still in remarkable condition, exterior and interior. Our maitenance staff has done terrific work and all of the staffs and children over the years have contributed to keep our place looking like new. Our school's main entrance has new lighting fixtures which fill the area with bright lights to welcome you and our guests. We are doing our best to use the most efficient lighting throughout the building too!
