Drop off & Pick Up Reminders
On-Campus Parking
Parents,
Due to a limited number of parking spaces on our site, all parking is reserved for staff only. Please either use the drop-off loop or park along the street when bringing your children to school and picking them up. Encourage your children to use the crosswalks and sidewalks before and after school. There are many new parking spots on N. General Kearney and there is a dirt area across the street for use. Thank you for your assistance.
Want to Avoid Traffic During Pick-up?
If you would like to avoid the heavy traffic at the end of the school day, arrive to campus about ten minutes after dismissal (2:40 PM). Most traffic will have already cleared by then allowing you easy access to campus.
Detention Information Preferences
Students can receive detentions for things such as tardies to class and behavior issues. These detentions are primarily to be assigned out of school hours, such as before or after school. In middle school, a large portion of students are still being picked up by family members or friends, which can cause these detentions to interrupt students from getting home. Daylight hours can also be a concern when assigning detentions outside of school hours. In order to support students getting to where they need to be outside of school hours, our practice for detentions will be to assign them during the school hours, such as break or lunch (students will still be provided time to eat). This will allow students to continue with their before and after-school transportation as usual. If you would prefer your child serve any assigned detentions outside of school hours, please let us know by clicking here

Item Drop-Off
The only items allowed to be dropped off at school are academic materials (computers, textbooks, PE clothes, or an empty water bottle). Any other items will not be taken. If a student forgot their lunch, they can receive lunch at the cafeteria if needed. It is also important to note that classrooms will not be called to notify students of a dropped-off item. Students can stop by the front office during break or lunch to check and see if the item is there.
Title I Parent Notification
Your child is attending a school receiving Title I federal funds through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). At the beginning of each school year, there are annual notifications that you will receive electronically they are attached in this newsletter. If you would prefer a hard copy, please contact the school.
Click on the titles below to review each notification.
Lunch Applications
Student lunch applications are one of the ways schools receive additional state and federal funds. Please complete the online lunch application even if you think you don't qualify or even if your child packs their lunch. Yes, snack (served only during break) and lunches are still FREE for ALL DMS students this year, but these applications help us get more materials and programs to help our students. This can only help our school!

6th Grade After School Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)
"Expanded learning" means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences.
It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results-driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year. TVUSD 6th Grade ELOP Information.

UNIVERSAL MEALS
Beginning in School Year (SY) 2022–23, California will become the first state to implement a statewide Universal Meals Program for school children.
What does this mean?
All children are offered a breakfast AND a lunch every school day for FREE!
What about meal applications?
All eligible families should still complete a meal application! The only school site that will not be collecting applications is Temecula Elementary School. Applications help our District's budget and may also help provide discounted internet access and transportation fees, academic enrichment programs, fee waivers for college applications and AP tests, as well as secure funding/resources for
teachers! Also, in order to receive P-EBT you must have a meal application on file!
