AES, Learning Beyond the Building!
~Here or There, Learning Happens Everywhere~
A Note From the Principal
Dear Alamos Families,
As I sit at my desk, alone in my office, I am startled by the sudden realization that the quiet is actually quite deafening. In the stillness, I am reminded of better days when elementary schools in August were a hub of activity and joy as little ones anxiously began their new school year. There is not much that compares to the excitement of the first day of school and the anticipation of all that is to come as a new school year unfolds. I understand. I miss it too. I want you to know that there has not been a single day gone by that I have not missed seeing classrooms full of students, hallways full of teachers, and little ones at my office door excited to show off their new school clothes. But we must be careful to guard our thoughts because if we spend too much time thinking about the way things were, we may miss opportunities to enjoy what is! My Dear Families, I know that Online Learning is not the kind of schooling we envisioned for our children but believe me, even in a time such as this, there are great moments to savor, innovative discoveries to celebrate, and new home-school connections to applaud. Our students and staff are persevering in their commitment to teach and learn...here, there, and everywhere! Learning Beyond the Building continues to frame our vision for the year and I thank you for supporting our school community as we move forward in this new virtual world together.
We are excited to announce that new IPADS have arrived! TVUSD is committed to providing an IPAD to every student in Preschool - 5th grade. If you have not yet requested an IPAD, you may begin the process by completing the Technology Responsibility form (link is at the bottom of the newsletter). Devices may be picked up Mon-Wed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the school site.
Our new TECH-DESK begins next week! If your student needs tech support during Online Learning, please email Mr. Aaron at Acapehart2@tvusd.us. The AES TECH-DESK is open for immediate response/support on M-F from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please make note of this important resource. We are here to help!
AES is proud to offer a new opportunity for parent input and professional dialogue. Please join the school administrative team for our first, "Partnering with Parents Beyond the Building" virtual get together on Monday, September 14th at 2:30 p.m. A ZOOM meeting invite will be emailed to all parents next week. I look forward to meeting with you as we "Zoom" through this new school year together!
As you may know, AES has committed to not only supporting students academically but also to care for their social, emotional, and behavioral well being. Did you know that every school site in Temecula Unified School District has a social worker on-site to support social/emotional wellness? Even in the virtual world, our fabulous social worker, Tina Marks, is reaching out to students and their families to offer additional support during Online Learning. I will be including Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Tidbits in every newsletter. Miss Marks' contact will also be included for your convenience.
Our SEL Friendship Room is about to open! Mark your calendar for September 15th. This delightful program is offered virtually for all students in PreK through 5th grade. Student invites will be sent out through your child's Online classroom platform. The Friendship Room, under the supervision of Miss Marks and led by Mr. Aaron, our SEL support assistant, offers a variety of fun activities that promote positive interactions and play with peers. Please refer to the grade level schedule below. Come for a visit and share in the fun!
SEL Friendship Room: 2:45 p.m. -3:15 p.m.
Tuesdays: Prek - Grade 1
Wednesdays: Grades 2 and 3
Thursdays: Grades 4 and 5
I wish you and your family a wonderful three day weekend. It is going to be HOT, so stay cool and fill the days with lots of family fun. As always, If there is anything I can do to assist you and your family in this new Virtual Learning World, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our team. I have no doubt, that AES, Learning Beyond the Building is...MISSION POSSIBLE!
Fondly, Jenniffer Aynesworth, AES Principal

Message from PTO
Hello Alamos Families,
The Alamos Elementary School PTO would like to welcome all our new and returning families to the 2020-2021 school year. PTO’s mission is to support and enhance the educational experiences of the school’s students by providing an organization through which the parents, the school, and teachers can work cooperatively and by providing financial support for programs funded outside of the annual school budget. The PTO funds and sponsors numerous events, programs, assemblies, technology, and school enrichment throughout the year. Even though our school year looks a little different this year, our hope is to still be a support and encouragement to our Alamos families, teachers, and staff as much as possible. If you have any questions on how to volunteer or become a PTO member, questions about PTO, comments, or concerns please feel free to email Casey Rendon, our PTO President, at firstname.lastname@example.org any time.
You can also follow us on our website at ttps://alamospto.wixsite.com/alamoselementarypto and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AlamosElementarySchoolPTO.
