In This Together-We Are Learning From Home
We miss you very much! Thank you for taking the time to reconnect with us virtually through the use of the newsletter, email, Class Dojo, and the FDES Kindergarten Learning From Home website. Communication is the key as we move forward as a classroom community with new digital learning opportunities. Teachers will continue to create and share daily learning opportunities posted on the FDES Kindergarten Learning From Home website. Please check for the link in your email, Class Dojo account, or at the bottom of this newsletter.
We want you to know that our philosophy is "do what you can do". Please don't feel pressured to complete each assignment in one sitting. Allow your child to pick and choose from the choice of activities posted. Learning should be fun and engaging. Research suggests that learning from home for this age group should be chunked in small amounts of time (8-10 minutes) throughout the day for no more than an hour total with breaks for movement and play in between. Mornings are usually the best for attention. A suggested schedule might be:
- Monday: Fundations and Sight Words
- Tuesday: Choice Board and Technology Apps
- Wednesday: Shared Reading and Writing
- Thursday: Resources and Technology Apps
- Friday: Math and Spanish Lessons
In addition to the digital lessons, we encourage reading free choice books to your child and having your child read independently to you through the RAZ Kids App daily.
We are here to answer any questions that you may have about digital learning or anything else that you may need clarification on. Please don't hesitate to reach out through email or Class Dojo instant messenger. We are in this together and will come out of this a stronger Panda family.
With Great Admiration,
The FDES Kindergarten Team
