Session 2 Class Descriptions
Create the Morning Announcements-Work together to create videos and make graphics that will deliver the Grant School announcements daily. Grades 3-5. The instructor is Mrs. Sweeney. Meets Tues/Wed/Thur.
Peyton’s Promise-4th-5th Grade students only! We will work together to manage the school’s food pantry some weeks, do planning for food drives and community events and continue to build leadership skills. The instructor is Ms. Simons. Meets Wednesdays.
Fun with Coloring/Drawing-We will meet and enjoy coloring and drawing activities. The instructor is Ms. Stotmeister. Meets Tues/Wed/Thur. Grades 1-5.
Book Club-We will meet to read together and discuss a book we’re all reading together.The instructor is Ms. Vanatter. Meets Thursdays. Grades 3-5
Creating Giftable Crafts-Join Ms. Vannatter to create fun and giftable crafts using many different art supplies, as well as things you might find in your recyclable bin! All supplies will be provided. Classes around holidays will feature holiday themed crafts! Meets Tuesdays. Grades 2-5.
Mindful Yoga-Enjoy soothing music and thoughtful scenes of the mind, blended with stretches and poses to create balance & strengthen the body, during this after school yoga practice time! Beginners as well as experienced yoga students are all welcome! Please wear comfy clothes and please bring a beach towel or blanket with you from home, yoga mats will be provided. Each time we meet, we will end our time together feeling calm and refreshed! The instructor is Mrs. Vanatter. Meets Wednesdays for Grades 1-5.
CHEER with Ms. Rasmussen-Join the Wausau West Cheer Coach and learn the basics of cheerleading for boys and girls. Meets Tuesdays. Grades 3-5.
Monk Gardens at Grant-NOTE: ALL CLASSES HELD OUTSIDE! Nature-themed activities for Grades 1-5.
Explore Wisconsin Wildlife-Join Mr. Block as he leads you in a study of Wisconsin animals, birds, fish, insects, etc. Grades 1-5.
Paint a Mural for Grant!-Meets Thursdays for Grades 3-5. Plan and orchestrate the production of a mural for a Grant School Wall.

If your child will not be coming to school please call the school office at 715-261-0190 or send an email to etaylor@wausauschools.org by 9:00 a.m. that school day. Feel free to leave a voicemail with your child’s name, grade and absence reason. If we do not hear from a family by 9:00 a.m. a phone call will be made to the parents inquiring about the absence.
Please note a student may not be excused by a parent for more than ten (10) days per school year. The student must complete any course work missed during the absence. Examples of reasons for being absent that can be counted under these 10 parent approved days include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. professional and other necessary appointments (e.g., medical, dental, and legal) that cannot be scheduled outside of the school day
2. illness without a medical excuse from a physician
3. attend a funeral
4. vacations
