The Spring Sprint is here!
PTC and Student Council have joined together to host the SPRING SPRINT at Westfield from 4 to 6 p.m. today! Please join us to cheer on all the Wildcat Spring Sprinters! There will be a DJ, dunk tank, face painting, food sales, book fair in the gym, and don’t forget to pick up your Home Run Inn pizza orders!
Our Wildcats have done an outstanding job raising money for updated LMC furniture and new outdoor seating! Thank you, parents, for your help in registering your child and asking your friends and family for donations!
It will be a hot one! Water bottles will be available for free to runners pre- and post-sprint, as well as fruit and applesauce pouches. Lemonade, juice boxes, and baked goods will be available for purchase from the student council. As a reminder, students must attend with a parent or guardian. Let’s go, Wildcats!
Event schedule:
4 p.m. Welcome message and runner warm-up
4:10 - 4:30 p.m. First heat: All students with A-L last names
4:45 - 5:05 p.m. Second heat: All students with M-Z last names
Students will pick up their race bags after running in their heat and will be directed to find their families.
5:15 p.m. Goal Getter Raffle drawing and top earners announced

CCSD 89 Bond Referendum Committee
The CCSD 89 Bond Referendum Committee Chair is looking for parents from all five schools to serve on the committee. Please email westfieldptc@gmail.com if you’re interested.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run have chosen two causes for their annual service projects. We are looking for non-perishable food donations for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. We are also looking for fabric donations as the girls will be making blankets and toys for animal shelters. Donations will be accepted until May 20.
Portillo’s Restaurant Night
Visit the Portillo’s in Downers Grove on Wednesday, May 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., and 20 percent of sales will benefit Westfield Elementary. Order online or in-app for pickup using code PORTILLOS7 before checkout in the "Apply Offer" field. Or, show the flyer to the cashier when ordering at the restaurant. Westfield school supply kits
Westfield school supply kits on sale now through School Tool Box. Take the hassle out of back to school supply shopping. Please note that headphones are required for all grades but are not included in the kits. They are available as an add on. Please order your students' grades for the 2022-23 school year. Kits will be delivered to school and will be in your students classroom for their 1st day.

Take a photo of results when you use at-home COVID-19 test
- COVID-19 cases are increasing in DuPage County and at CCSD 89. The current CCSD 89 mitigation status is low. The latest mitigation information is available at: www.ccsd89.org/Page/8994
- When you use an at-home COVID-19 test, please take a photo of the test strip that shows the results so you can share it with the school nurse.
- Families should keep students home if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. This chart can be a starting point when determining whether your student needs to stay home: https://bit.ly/3rUY93w

Band (May 16), orchestra (May 17) students to perform at Glenbard South
Families are invited to hear band students perform in the main auditorium at Glenbard South High School on Monday, May 16. The fifth-grade band will perform at 6 p.m.; sixth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m. Seventh- and eighth-grade band will perform at 8 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 17, CCSD 89 orchestra students will perform at Glenbard South. The fourth- and fifth-grade orchestras will perform at 6 p.m.; the sixth- seventh-, and eighth-grade orchestras will perform at 7:30 p.m.
Learn more about bond referendum at June 13, June 15 community meetings
The district has added an additional informational meeting where community members can learn more about the June 28 school bond referendum. The 7 p.m. June 13 meeting will be held via Zoom. The link will be posted at www.ccsd89.org/schoolbonds There will also be an in-person meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Briar Glen Elementary.
The bonds would allow the district to complete essential infrastructure projects at all five CCSD 89 schools without increasing taxes. You can learn more about the referendum at www.ccsd89.org/schoolbonds
Keep reading! Park View, Glen Ellyn libraries will have books for CCSD 89 students
From June 6 to June 24, all CCSD 89 students are invited to check out books from the library at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Boulevard Glen Ellyn. The Park View library will be open from 8 to 11 am. Monday through Friday to read or check out any Park View books.
Any student currently enrolled in the CCSD 89 (students who were in preschool through seventh grade during the 2021-22 school year) is invited. Children younger than eight must be with an adult.
The Glen Ellyn Public Library has also opened up its Summer Reading Program to all CCSD 89 students, including those that live in Wheaton or Lombard. You can find out more here: https://gepl.beanstack.org/reader365
