Language Arts
This week's literacy skills were rhyming, visualizing, and sequencing. We also enjoyed reading various stories and books about the seasons and weather! Our newest sight words are she and was. These are proving to be tricky for many students. I did send home a sheet of sight words to add to your stack at home. Please let me know if you need new copies at any point! Practice reading the words, writing the words, writing sentences using the words, point the words out in stories...there are so many different ways to review sight words that don't involve boring "grill and drill" flashcard practice!
Math
We began addition this week! Monday's discussion revolved around "joining" and what that means. So far we have practiced adding 1, 2, 3, and 4 to a number from 1 to 10. There are many fun ways to practice this skill at home as well using candies, toys, stones, cereal...the opportunities are endless!
Social Studies
"Life Then & Now" will be the topic for this unit. This is always a fun one to teach because the kids get to learn about themselves and how they have changed over time as well! Stay tuned in to upcoming newsletters and emails as we have a fun project to complete for this unit and we will need your help!
