Dear KRS Families,
Happy last Friday of September 2023! Respect week is scheduled next week for every public school in New Jersey. Thank you to the KRS School Safety committee under the leadership of school counselor Mr. Levine for planning engaging student activities focused on kindness (Kindness Lives at KRS) and respect. The activities are highlighted in this newsletter and in a separate communication that was sent to you today.
Thank you to Mrs. de Freitas and Mrs. Zurich for leading a fun, informative, and productive PTO meeting on Wednesday. The KRS PTO is an important organization that provides many enriching activities for the KRS students and their families. Also, great thanks to the all the PTO members for their engagement and contributions.

Thank you to the KRS PTO for arranging for such a "Kind" assembly!
No Place for Hate School
Kings Road School is a No Place for Hate school! From the No Place for Hate Website - No Place for Hate® is an organizing framework for K-12 schools committed to creating sustainable change that leads to improved school climate. Participating schools are able to incorporate ADL’s anti-bias and anti-bullying resources within their existing programming to form one powerful message that all students have a place to belong. Since the program was launched in 1999, over 1,700 schools across the country have joined the No Place for Hate® movement nationwide.
KRS Respect Week - 2023 - News from School Counselor Mr. Levine
Monday, October 2, 2023
- Introduction to Respect Week by Mr. Levine on the morning announcements.
- Anti Bullying Pledge/ No Place for Hate - Kings Road School is a “No Place for Hate'' school in conjunction with the Anti Defamation League. No Place for Hate is a simple, empowering, and effective program designed to prevent bullying. Students will sign a large No Place for Hate pledge.
- Kindness Bingo at Home - A Kindness Bingo paper will be sent home on Monday. Please have your child complete the Kindness Bingo paper and return the completed paper back to school on October 6, 2023.
Tuesday, October 3, 2023
- Introduction to the Definition of Respect - Morning Announcement - Mr. Levine will announce the Respect competition during the morning announcements. During the respect competition, the students will brainstorm with their teachers about examples of kindness.
Wednesday, October 4, 2023
- The students will complete the activities below in their classrooms during the school day.
Grade Level Classroom Respect Activities:
- Kindergarten: Tracing Hands
- First Grade: Color Me Beautiful
- Second Grade: Respect Wheel
- Third Grade: Respect Recipe
- Fourth Grade and Fifth Grades: The students will write a letter to a person they respect and admire.
Thursday, October 5, 2023
- Kindness Lives at KRS - The students will sign their names on the “Kindness” bulletin board located near the Dreamscape.
Friday, October 6, 2023
- Fun Respect Video - A fun respect video will be shared with the students during all lunches.
Halloween at KRS - October 31, 2023
Our Halloween parade will begin promptly at 1:15 PM on October 31, 2023.
- Class parties for students only will follow the parade.
- Class pictures will occur behind the school immediately after the conclusion of the parade.
- Children may bring their costumes to school and change after lunch or students may wear their costumes to school.
Halloween costumes should be school appropriate:
Masks are allowed as long as vision is clear.
Costumes should allow for easy walking.
Costumes should not represent violence. (no blood or weapons)
Please no scary clown costumes.
We love when adults wear costumes, but please no masks.
NJSLA Parent Reports - For Students in 4th and 5th Grades
Families of students in grades 4 and 5, who completed the NJSLA assessment in the spring of 2023, will receive the parent/guardian result reports via their child's backpack today.
