Lockdown Drill Recap
I thought our lockdown drill last week went well, but it was a very controlled environment (You knew exactly when it would be, no students were in the hallway, etc). Our next Lockdown drill will be unannounced and may be at an inconvenient time.
Overall, we can be quicker closing our doors. They should be locked, so it should just be a matter of kicking out the doorstop and closing them. Take a quick peek in the hallway and if you see a student, grab them before you close your door. After you close your door, do not open it again until school personnel or police open it to tell you the threat has passed.
Things to talk about with students:
- Classroom, library and office doors will be locked and will not be opened from the inside.
- Students who find themselves outside their classroom will need to find refuge in a bathroom or other space.
United Way Cards
Central Office would like your United Way pledge cards by October 12. You can bring yours to Colleen and we'll get them delivered to C.O. They'd "prefer" to get one from everyone, even if you don't plan to give.
Red Ribbon Week
It was good to see so many of our students and staff participating in the dress days during Red Ribbon Week. Thank you for taking pictures and Tweeting them and adding them to your Dojo pages!
Future Career Day
Check out the Lou's Thrifty Way Facebook page; they give us a nice shout out for our recent "gifts" to them!
Be the Nice Kid!
Love this reminder!
Student Focused Instruction
Our Google Classroom module for the next couple of weeks is on Student Focused Instruction. Looks like there are five things to complete or respond to.
I have really enjoyed reading your comments! And the best ones are when you are commenting about another colleague's post. Then it starts to become transformative learning!
