Pirates in Harmony will take place on Saturday, January 28 at Bay Port High School. Students in grades 4-8 will have a chance to learn and sing music and play music leadership games while working with the 5-12 music staff and high school students. Every student involved will receive a t-shirt and lunch with their registration.
Everyone is welcome to come to the showcase from 3:00-3:30 at the Bay Port Auditorium that afternoon to enjoy a mini performance of their music learned from the day. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Howard Suamico Music Festival will take place at Bay Port High School on Saturday, February 11. This even will feature solos, ensembles and large groups from Lineville, Bay View and Bay Port in a clinic setting all day. Students have been preparing their events during class and at home to be ready for their performance. The schedule will be posted by each teacher the week of the festival. Students should dress in nice clothes...think dresses, skirts, dress or khaki pants, button up or polo shirts. Please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time to check in, warm-up and get ready to perform. Once their individual clinic is done, they are welcome to leave. We are proud of the hard work students have put in to preparing for the day. Let's make it a great experience.

Thank you for helping us serve over 600 families for our Holiday Store and pantry in December. As the new year arrives, many of us think of organizing and cleaning up from the Holidays to start fresh in the new year. For this reason this month we are collecting household cleaning products that we can have available at pantry.
Please feel free to send donations in a plastic bag with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates your continued support.

When: February 8th from 6:00-7:30pm
Where: HSSD District Office
What: Positive Parenting
Parenting is hard. Join us as we partner with Triple P Parenting to learn more about addressing behaviors and promoting positive skills for our children. Triple P Parenting will talk about strategies to use for different age levels and offer space to discuss some of the most common struggles parents face regarding these topics.
Registration for each event is highly encouraged in order to provide resources for all who attend. You can complete registration for each event using the QR Code below in the flyer, or by visiting the District website and going to the Student Services Department.
DIGI KNOW ... 30 Seconds to Informed Decisions about Media
As students in middle school begin to connect with each other online and explore topics on apps like TikTok and Instagram, as well as seek out more video games, movies, podcasts, and other media, (and there are always new trends, "must-watch" series and apps being created!) it becomes really challenging to navigate it all and know what's appropriate and safe, and what is not.
- Common Sense Media is a fantastic resource that provides constantly updated information on the latest digital media trends, series, apps, etc. If for example, you hear of a new app that sounds fun, how do you know if it's safe or appropriate?
- Common Sense Media provides an age rating, provides a thorough description of what the app does, and breaks down any potential concerns in a "Parents Need to Know" section.
Access to this information is helpful in making decisions about what media you want to bring onto your device and into your life. In about 30 seconds, from the Common Sense Media homepage, you can simply type in the search what you want to look up and scan a nice one-pager that gives you the background information you need to begin to make an informed decision.
One caveat on using the search on the site is that each browser gets three free reviews. To conduct more reviews, open the website in a new browser or reach out to Kelly Koller, Technology Integration Specialist at Bay View at kellkoll@hssdschools.org
