Roth Ram Report
November 2020
A note from Mrs. McGuire
Dear Roth Families!
The holidays are just around the corner! Can you believe it?
We have reached my favorite time of year and my favorite season as the temperatures have cooled a bit! It is a time when no gifts are expected; but instead, a time when we are encouraged to reflect on all we are thankful for in our lives. I have much to be thankful for as a member of the Roth Elementary community. You are truly an amazing group of parents and family members who show your support for our teachers and staff daily. Many have sent an encouraging email to your child's teacher(s) or left a kind word on their voicemail. Some of you have even "adopted" a teacher or two. We appreciate you and are thankful to partner with you in your child's education! You are truly inspiring!
We want to let you know that our second 9-week period began on November 2 and will run through January 15, 2021. Don't forget to check Skyward at the end of the week to see your child's first 9-week report card. Please know that teachers will be contacting parents if there are grades on your child's report card that need to be "repaired".
Next, we want to encourage you to support our Fall fundraiser by registering online at www.supportandgive.com. Our online group ID is 20049. We are working to purchase new technology, reading and math materials for students and professional development for our teachers. Our fundraiser is completely online and items will be shipped to the purchaser.
Finally, parents, we have some fun activities coming up for the students, including Friendship Week November 16 - 20. Be sure to check out this month's edition of the Roth Ram Report to see all the latest news! It is our sincere hope that this Thanksgiving is an amazing time with your family!

Virtual Storybook Pumpkins!
Thank you to all who participated in growing our Virtual Storybook Pumpkin Patch! There were some fun, new and creative pumpkins! You can still check them out on our Flipgrid!
Roth Reads PTO Reading Program!
PTO and the Roth Library are excited to introduce another “wild” reading program! RothReads
is a new program where you read books and give recommendations based on your thoughts
about the book! (Just like Goodreads on the web). We’d love to see what you’re reading, what
you think, and hopefully you can inspire another reader to pick up the book you loved too!

Klein Online Testing Information
We are approaching beginning of the year testing. Students who are participating in KOL will still take the assessments. We need families to understand that these assessments give our teachers important information and allows them to know how to continue to help your child. Please do not help your child on these tests. Students might not know the answers and that is ok!
For the MAP assessment:
KOL families please make sure your device is ready. Go to check.nwea.org If the check tells you there are errors, let your teacher know immediately so they can help fix the issues.
Remember:
- You will need to be in Zoom in order to take your test with your camera on and your microphone off
- You will be provided with the session name and password when you are ready to test
- Students will complete the test ON THEIR OWN
- Students might not know the answers and THAT IS OK!
