Progress Reports, ELAR Tests

and Corrections....OH MY!!!

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. ----------- Frederick Douglass

Progress Reports were sent home today in the Thursday folder. Please sign and return to school tomorrow.
Please know that the grades that were sent home today include the ELAR (Reading) Test. We have done corrections already on the test. If your child made a 70 or below they had the opportunity to correct ALL missed questions for a higher grade. Please see Test Correction Guidelines below.

Test Correction Guidelines

In the event that your child does not score a 70 or above on the assessment they will have the opportunity to correct the problems he or she missed to raise their test score. The following is from the TRES "Redo policy".

Formative and summative assessments for which the student earned a failing grade may be redone, one opportunity per assessment, and must occur during the school day. All assessments being corrected should not leave the school and should be completed during school day hours. Assessment corrections must take place within 10 days of the grade being posted. The teacher will average the original failing grade with the second attempt grade in order to create a new grade from the average. The new grade shall not exceed a 70%. Students will correct all incorrect or incomplete portions of an assignment or assessment (during one opportunity) in order for the teacher to calculate the second grade.

There is a big jump from 2nd grade to 3rd grade. Our first 2 tests are behind us and I believe that now everyone is fully aware of the effort that will need to be given in order to be successful in 3rd grade.
If you or your child have any questions please do not hesitate to speak with me. I am here to help your child be successful and enjoy their 3rd grade experience.
