Big picture

Virtual Meet the Teacher: Thursday, August 20th from 1:00-2:30 PM

First Day of School: Monday, August 24th

Virtual Open House- Tuesday, September 15th

Scholars' start and end times are 8:15 AM and 3:15 PM

The campus opens for scholars at 7:45 AM. Scholars should not be dropped off prior to 7:45 AM. We do not have staff on campus before 7:45 AM to adequately supervise scholars.

Families will use the car circle to drop their scholars off. Please do not leave your cars. Falcon staff will be available to assist scholars with making it to class. I know this will be a little bit different, but we will get through it together. Due to social distancing we can no longer have our scholars eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Upon arrival all scholars will get a breakfast to go and eat it in their classroom.

This year as scholars are dismissed they will wait in their classrooms until their cars arrive and their names are called. Please have your car tags posted in the car window. All family members riding in the same car should be listed on the car tag. Please follow the traffic patterns and continue to move down as you await your child. We ask for grace and patience until we get our car circle process perfected.

Please see staggered dismissal times below:

  • 3:05 Pre-K Bus riders and SVE , North Walkers, Bike Riders, Pre-K-Kindergarten siblings, Car Riders

  • 3:10 South Walkers, Bike Riders, and Car Riders

  • 3:15 Car Riders, Bus Riders, and R’ Club

*ALL Scholars will be dismissed through our closed circuit television system.

All scholars and staff will be required to wear a mask where social distancing is not possible. Masks will not need to be worn during recess and PE because scholars will be outside and can easily social distance. We will provide each scholar with 5 reusable cloth (washable) masks. We suggest that your child have their own mask for the first day of school. It would be a great idea to have your child's name written somewhere on the outside of the mask. We know wearing a mask will be a challenge for some scholars, but with training, and consistency we hope it becomes a routine for our Falcon scholars.

All classrooms, including Music and Art, as well as the cafeteria, have been arranged to maximize distance from one scholar to another. We have incorporated signage to help scholars and staff follow directional paths and to maintain a safe distance when walking in line, waiting for the restroom, waiting in the lunch line, and sitting at a cafeteria table.

We have developed a cleaning schedule that allows for daily cleaning/disinfecting of the school building /classrooms. Restrooms will be cleaned throughout the day and supplies will be provided in each classroom to allow for the cleaning of work spaces.

For the first 9 weeks of school, we are not allowing any visitors on campus that do not have essential business for the operation of the school. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot allow parents to walk their child to class the first few days of school, visit for lunch, or volunteer. These policies will be revisited after the first nine weeks.

IMPORTANT....If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home.

We ask that you sincerely commit to doing this to help keep our scholars and staff healthy. All staff will complete a self screening tool to affirm their wellness each day before entering our school building.

If a scholar gets sick during the school day, our nurse will assess the child and consult with the parent/guardian. If a scholar exhibits illness beyond the normal stomach ache or “boo-boo”, we will request that you pick your child up. I strongly encourage you to make back-up plans for pick up. Please provide the front office with several people for us to contact on your behalf.

Scholars who exhibit Covid -19 symptoms will be isolated in a designated area in our administration building until you arrive to pick them up. The District has established a COVID-19 team that will work closely with the Pinellas County Health Department to assist schools with making COVID-19 health decisions.

We will continue to have before and after care through R’Club. There are limited seats because of social distancing guidelines. Please contact Ms. Patricia Clark at 727-327-4587 with any questions about R’Club.

Scholars in MYPCS Online will receive a phone call from their child's teacher during the week of August 17th with an introduction to this way of work.

MYPCS Online is a 9-week commitment for scholars and will be delivered virtually on a daily bell schedule with the same or similar curriculum as in-person instruction and interaction with scholars.

Grades: Scholars will earn grades for lesson completion, assessments, and participation, as if they were face to face. Scholars in grades 1st and 2nd earn E, V, S, N, U and scholars in 3rd through 5th earn A, B, C, D, F.

Attendance: Scholars must participate in the entire days school schedule to be counted as present. Our school's Student Services team will conference with parents and conduct home visits to ensure that each and every Fairmount Park Elementary scholar has what they need to be successful in this program.

Parents of MyPCS Online scholars please consider the following:

  • Establish a in-school routine everyday just like you would for face to face school.
  • Communicate often with the school and teacher to make sure your scholar has the supplies and working technology they need to be successful.
  • Be prepared for parent teacher conferences via TEAMS or ZOOM to talk about your scholar's progress.
  • Consider talking to your scholar and telling them that this is important work. You might want to develop an incentive plan for FOCUS and Attention to learning while in MYPCS Online.

We will provide our students with basic school supplies. Teachers may have a DONATION / WISH List they will share with you on Class Dojo.

Common donation items are:

reusable water bottle

gallon baggies

hand sanitizer

kleenex / tissue

paper towels

Clorox wipes
