SBS Weekly Update
Sunday, March 29th
Principal's Notes
It is my hope that this update finds you and your family well. The Governor's announcement this past week extending school closures until May 4th certainly was discouraging. Despite this, there are encouraging things to be found.
Via technology I have seen families come together, students connecting with each other, students continue to learn and a call for prayers and support of those who are on the front line of this pandemic. Working together and caring for each other will lift us all out of this when it comes time to return to our previous norms. Our sense of community continues and the support for each other holds it together.
Today is the fifth Sunday of Lent. "‘Out of the depths I call to you O Lord: Lord hear my cry. Listen attentively to the sound of my pleading!’ (Ps 129:1-2). In this, the fifth Sunday of Lent, the Church invites us to turn our attention to the realities that are perhaps the most ‘scandalous’ in human experience, the death of a loved one. In this Gospel we see all those who are being supportive of Martha and Mary at the moment of their brother, Lazarus’ death." ~ Link to article.
There are many people dealing with the fresh loss of a loved one, in a time when we can not gather with each other to mourn. As a community we should pray for those in such turmoil at this time.
May God watch over all of you and your families.
All my best,
Matthew Collins
