Cass County Small Animal Meeting on April 16
The agenda includes:
- raising your animal,
- entry process - dates and deadlines,
- new cages,
- new show times,
- concerns, and
- questions.
One of the best skill/communication development contests we host is....
Pre-registration forms are due Friday, April 13th. You can bring them to the office, or email a copy of the registration form to cass-county@unl.edu . The contest is Tuesday, April 17th, 2018.

Fairbook changes for 2018
Here are some good-to-know changes regarding the Fairbook for 2018. It is not exhaustive, so please check your specific project’s category for detailed entry and project guidelines. The complete fairbook is on the website at: https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/cass/fair-and-contests/
· ALL ANIMALS (including dogs, cats, small animals, livestock, etc.) must be pre-entered by July 15.
· “Other Goat” department added – this is for goats that do not fit in the Market or Dairy departments. Divisions include: pygmy, angora, fainting/myotonic, other and showmanship classes.
· Foods department has undergone major changes – please read through it before entering your item.
· Calendar changes: Small Animal and Cat shows have been moved to Monday evening. Public fashion show has been moved to Thursday evening (will now coincide with Performing Arts contest). Other goats show at 8 am on Wednesday, meat goats show at 11 am.
· New class for horses – Ranch Riding
· New class for Poultry – eggs.
· Other Departments have had several small changes, so please take a look at your area of interest to see if it has changed.

Raise Your Hand
The National 4-H Council Raise Your Hand promotion has begun! Now through May 15, the three states across the nation with the most hands raised will win $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000. Nebraska has taken an early lead in the first week of Raise Your Hand, closely followed by Ohio! Will we make it to the top of the leaderboard?
Raising your hand is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. Raise Your Hand: Go to 4-H.org/RaiseYourHand to vote for Nebraska.
2. Compete for Your State: Raising your hand is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000 award for the states with the most hands raised.
3. Pay It Forward: Tweet, post and share your #4HGrown support and ask your network to raise their hands at 4-H.org/RaiseYourHand.
