Macleans Primary School Newsletter
Wednesday 14 June 2023
Macleans Primary School Community
Hi Everyone
I am sure we have all been enjoying the sunny days recently; makes a change from the wet conditions we had for a few weeks. The sunny days have meant our fields have dried up quickly and enabled the children to enjoy their many games and activities they do during the breaks.
The Year 0 to Year 3 assembly on Friday was terrific. Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and family who came along to support the children. I look forward to the Y4 to Y6 assembly this Friday afternoon.
We are in the 3rd week of the 2023 'Athon', the Value-Athon. Thanks everyone for the continued support of this at home as we complete the booklet. Please ensure the booklet is returned to school on Monday 19 June as I will begin the spot prizes on Monday 20 June. More details and the downloadable booklets below.
A couple of weeks ago the junior team travelled to the museum. This week and next the Y4-Y6 team has been going to the Chelsea Sugar Factory. Both of these excursions have supported the Inquiry focus at the moment: dinosaurs & volcanoes and Science. Excursions and field trips are an important part of the learning process; we appreciate the parent support who accompanied and helped manage the groups of children.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and please enjoy this newsletter.
Regards & Nga Mihi

Matariki @ Macleans Primary 2023
Macleans Primary will be recognising and celebrating Matariki 2023 over the next couple of weeks. A reminder that Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in midwinter and for many New Zealanders, it heralds the start of a New Year. Iwi across New Zealand understand and celebrate Matariki in different ways and at different times.
There will be various Matariki learning activities happening in the classes, from writing to maths, between now and the end of term. Next Friday, 23 June, there will be a special Matariki assembly at 12.15 for Y1-Y3 and 12.40 for Y4-6. All parents are welcome to attend these assemblies.

Parking on Wycherley Drive - Patience is Key!
Thanks everyone who drops-off and picks-up their child by car for sticking to the two minute drop off and pick-up where possible as it does help keep the traffic moving! Wycherley Drive can get a bit congested, most often after-school. We do a great job too of being patient as we wait to move along Wycherley Drive knowing that in a minute or three the traffic eases :)))
