Maple Grove Fox Report
December 1, 2023
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I took time to think about all the things around Maple Grove Charter School that I am thankful for: the eager learners, devoted staff, vested School District of Athens, supportive community members, beautiful environment, and involved families.
We start off December busy with our Holiday Concerts right around the corner. December 5 at 6:00 pm we will have grades K-2 and December 7 at 6:00 pm, grades 3-5. We are excited to continue this tradition of the Holiday Concert at Maple Grove Charter School and can't wait to see everyone there!
Cookie Fundraiser Pick-up
Maple Grove Families, I will say it again...YOU ARE AMAZING! We raised $2,370.50 with this fundraiser! We are working to fund a Nature Scape Playground. Our cookies and frosting will be here on Thursday, Nov. 30. Pick up will be from 3:00-5:00 pm in the gym. If you are not able to make that time please see if you can find someone to pick them up for you as we don't have extra storage here to store them. We could use a couple more volunteers to help to distribute. If you are willing to volunteer please contact Katie at 715-351-0918.
Tuesday, December 5th: Primary Concert (KG-2) 6:00 in the MGCS gym - students should report to their classrooms. Doors will open at 5:15.
Thursday, December 7th: Intermediate Concert (3-5) 6:00 in the MGCS gym - students should report to their classrooms. Doors will open at 5:15.

Bird Feeding Stations
A big shout out to Shahn Kariger, one of our learner's dad, for making our two visions of bird feeding stations come to life! They look fantastic! As part of our first graders units of study around birds they will be choosing a variety of feeders to hang from these that will be used to study and enjoy by all Maple Grove Learners. I would also like to give a shout out to Clayton Neske, who also has learners at MGCS, for his help in installing them! We are forever grateful for our families and all that they do to make these things possible! Thank you!
Maple Grove Charter School has great school spirit and we can't wait for everyone to showcase our new apparel! Please click the link attached for many color, size and style options for you and your family! 🦊 All orders are due December 10th. *Unfortunately, orders won't be here before Christmas!
We have a new fox addition to our Maple Grove fox family! Mrs. Denton had a baby girl named Charlotte Lee! Due to the new baby, Mrs. Denton will be on leave for 12 weeks but Mrs. Medford will be her sub. If you have questions regarding guidance, please contact Alexis Medford at firstname.lastname@example.org. Congrats and welcome to our family! 💗
Reading Incentive Fun!
Students who met their reading goal were able to have some extra fun on November 20th. Learners got to enjoy an "apple nacho" and a movie in the gym!
We celebrated some CRISP winners! Craftsmanship, Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, and Perseverance are the core traits we strive to have success in as students and staff here!
Veterans Day Assembly
We were honored to have our Veterans with us at MGCS on Friday 🇺🇸 Learners prepared poems, essays, artwork, thank-yous, and music to show their appreciation to our past and present men and women who have and are serving our country. We learned about what everything on the "Missing Man's Table" represented and witnessed the Three Volleys and playing of Taps. Thank you to all who made this possible!
Our community chili supper was a hit! It's always wonderful to see our families and communities come together for a great school!
Thank you to families for your donation and staff for making the chili.
Special thank you to Elizabeth Bloch, Troy Plautz, Angie Servi, Tari Williams, Cindy Riehle, Theresa Matz, Russel & Joyce Bloch, PaperPie (Usborne) and Polka Dotted Pie for your donations and extra involvement!
Straw Bale Donation
Our Kindergartners will be learning about building shelters to withstand the weather elements in their Engineering Lab. They will create small models for the indoor labs and then will create straw bale shelters together during some of the outdoor labs later in Module 2. A big thank you to community member, Jon Newleaf, for the donation!
