Making the Most of School Closures
Dear SAGE Families,
Primary SAGE understands that things are out of our control right now and we want you to know we are making the best of this together. We are creating online lessons and activities for your children but we know the days are long when school is canceled. So, in addition to our SAGE lessons we wanted to put together some suggested schedules and resources for you to help the days pass more productively.
In preparations for possible e-learning, we made sure that all students are enrolled in our SeeSaw class. We will communicate via SeeSaw to give instructions for students in our homeroom classes and our Units of Study. It is our goal to use technology that the students have used before so that they are familiar with it. Since the "classroom" will be different we believe it is important to not overwhelm students with too many new things. As with anything new, there will be some trial and error. Please reach out if your student is having issues.
We will post SAGE lessons, activities and extensions each week. Although we only see SAGE students once a week, students will have three days to complete their work. This will allow students to work at their own pace through assignments and give them time to ask questions and receive feedback. We are keeping in mind that, your child's classroom teacher will also be posting assignments for them. Research suggests that it typically takes twice as long for students to complete assignments through an e-learning model than in a traditional classroom setting. Please keep this in mind as your family transitions to this model of learning.
If you are concerned about your student having access to the internet or food services during these unprecedented times please reach out to Central Office. Don't forget to follow the district on social media and email to stay informed.
All primary teachers will be regularly checking their devices for students and families to reach out as necessary. Email and SeeSaw will likely be the fastest way to receive assistance..
We are in this together!
