November 2022
Gratitude and Giving
November is here! While this month has usually focused on the gift of giving, we have started our Community Outreach early this year. Many of our families have been affected by the wrath of Hurricane Ian. Many thanks to you for your generous monetary and gift card donations to support these families. Miss Carney is working closely with our families to support them and ensure the funds raised go to those in need.
We had a busy and successful October! Our students continue to show their resiliency as we made it back from a few days off of school and got back on pace from the hurricane. We celebrated Red Ribbon Week and enjoyed our whole school assembly for quarter 2 with our Storybook Character Parade. It is always great to come together and celebrate as one school community. Our families enjoyed some down time at the PTO's Annual Family "FunD" Night with a record attendance of over 1,000 people!
We are looking forward to a successful November. Our students are focused and engaged in the learning process. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Gratefully,
Ms. Kirby

School Counselor's Corner:
We had a wonderful October together especially when reuniting after the hurricane. Our students ended the month by enjoying our Red Ribbon Spirit Week! Red Ribbon Week is the National Drug Prevention Campaign and at SGE, we celebrate it as promoting healthy choices and R.eally E.xcellent D.ecisions. Thank you parents for your support with our dress up days and of course our story book character parade to show off our “great character.” I know our seahorses will continue to make really excellent decisions and healthy choices. Our SGE Spirit Club helped make our week extra special with their morning cheers. We also celebrated the October Seahorses of the Month for Respect to conclude the month. Congratulations, Seahorses! November’s character theme of the month will be good citizenship. Our seahorses have some pretty amazing role models to look up to when it comes to good citizenship. It was amazing to see our SGE community come together after Hurricane Ian to support one another. A heartfelt thank you to all who donated time, gift cards, money, purchased shirts, and more to benefit our Sea Gate Families. It means so much. We truly shine brighter together.
Check out the infographic below. We have been working on coping strategies in Classroom Guidance Lessons. Ask you child what High 5 Breathing is 😊.

News from Ms. Ellis, Program Specialist
On behalf of the ESE team at Sea Gate we truly hope each one of your families and friends are on the road to recovery and rebuilding from Hurricane Ian. As we move into the next quarter, this would be a great time to set up a meeting with your child’s case manager. At your parent/case manager/Teacher conference some helpful discussion tips would be to discuss your child’s progress not only in the classroom but with the case manager and progression toward the IEP goals, also how accommodations are being implemented in the classroom and on testing and if your child is continuing to make progress with the accommodations. As students move forward to the upper grades it would a great time to have your child join the meeting to build self-advocacy skills. If you have any questions regarding Gifted Plans or Nominations, 504 Accommodation Plans, Individualized Education Plans, or any questions in general related to ESE please don’t hesitate to reach out. My contact information is listed below. Happy Fall and warm Thanksgiving wishes to you and your family.
