Holly Academy News & Views
October 7, 2022
Next Friday is our traditional “Fall on the Farm” event. We are so appreciative of our PTO and particularly Angie Cryderman, for planning this fun-filled day. Please remember to ensure your Husky wears layers that day. Often it is quite chilly in the morning, warming up in the afternoon. Mr. Kidd and I are looking forward to our first Fall on the Farm and spending the day with our Huskies enjoying the outside activities! It’s great to be a Husky!
HAEF "Thank You"
Thank you to all the parents who attended the virtual curriculum night. If you were not able to attend, I am working with Mr. Appleton to get the videos posted from the night to the Holly Academy website. As always, if you have questions or concerns please feel free to email me at kiddc@hollyacademy.org.
NWEA Testing
Both buildings are continuing with testing. Thank you students and staff for your hard work on the tests.
PD for Teachers
The Staff will be going through ALICE training today, October 7th. This training is provided by an officer from Michigan State Police and provides our staff an opportunity to be more prepared for a school emergency.
RTI Model
The RTI model used at Holly Academy is driven by data collected through standardized test scores, classroom performance, and teacher observations. Targeted students receive intervention services with increasing and decreasing levels of intensity, based on their individual needs. For example, a student will receive Tier 2 services before receiving Tier 3 services. Conversely, a student who is released from Tier 3 services will receive Tier 2 services before dropping back to Tier 1.
TIER 1: Teachers provide standards-based, differentiated instruction for ALL students in the classroom.
TIER 2: An interventionist provides support within the classroom for targeted students to participate in learning that is in addition to Tier 1. Progress monitoring occurs with greater frequency.
TIER 3: A certified teacher/interventionist provides services outside of the classroom to targeted students so they are participating in learning that is in addition to Tier 1 and Tier 2. A learning plan is formulated specifically for the student’s needs, including individualized assessments. Attendance is mandatory.
TIER 4: Targeted students participate in learning that includes special education certification, specialized programs, and modified content or instructional delivery.
Mrs. Craven (craventina@hollyacademy.org) is happy to answer any questions about our Response to the Intervention RTI/MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) program.
Fall on the Farm
Fall on the Farm (fall-themed Field Day) will be Friday, October 14th. Most of the events are outside. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (layers). For any younger children that cannot tie their shoes, please make sure they have shoes they can put on themselves.
Class snacks will be cider and a Kellogg's Rice Krispie treat. Kroger brand powdered donuts will be used for the donut eating contest. If your child has an allergy to any of these items, please send in an alternate snack for your child. For the safety of those children with allergies, the PTO will not provide any alternatives for these items.
