FEBRUARY 2021

From the desk of Dr. McDaniel

February is here and we are into the 3rd quarter of school! Your child's attendance is so important every day! This is so important every year but it's extremely important this year because we have limited face to face time with our students. We want to make sure that they get the most out of their two in person day as they can. The doors open and breakfast begins at 8:20 each morning. School begins at 8:50 and students are counted tardy beginning at 8:50.

We have a lot of fun things happening this month. Please be watching your emails and Facebook to keep up to date on all the events. If you have not "liked" us on Facebook please take a moment to do so. We post a lot of information there as well as updates on challenges and other activities. You can click on the link below to take you straight to our "Sunset Facebook Page".

IXL TOURNAMENT UPDATE

Last month we told you about the district competition between the elementary schools. Our Sunset students have been working so hard and it has paid off.

SUNSET IS IN THE FINALS!!!

Our competition was much more intense for the month of December and January and is even tougher now that we are in the finals! Parents, we are counting on you to help us get to the finals!

We are asking for 20 minutes each day on IXL. It's such a short amount of time AND it is a great learning program to support your child in Reading and Math skills!

We set a school goal when we began this contest that we would answer ONE MILLION questions and I am so proud to say THAT WE HAVE SURPASSED THAT GOAL!!!!!!

I have no doubt in my mind that we are well on our way to winning this contest. We have the best students in Edmond!

New goal = 1,500,00 questions answered by February 26th!

We will celebrate with a Glow Dance Party once we reach this goal!! We are almost there!!!

Thank you parents for all your encouragement at home.

Let's work together and WIN!!!

This year we wanted to raise money by having a Double Wolf Dare Week 1 mile Fun Run for children ages 12 and under.
