Husky Happenings

MARCH 2023

Message From Mrs. Boone

As I take time to reflect on the MANY events, activities, and celebrations from February, I cannot help but be amazed and reminded as to how blessed we are to have such an amazing school community! February was a busy month filled with activities and events that enhanced and showcased student learning and our servant hearts. Students showcased their learning as they worked to research important figures in Black History through class projects. Be sure to take a walk through our Black History Month Project Gallery in the library during open house. We are proud of our students for collaborating as they worked together to learn more about Black History.

Students also learned and showed the importance of giving back to the community as they participated in Valentine’s Day Service projects (items made by students were donated to a local Senior Living Facility). We ended the month celebrating Go Texan Day by dressing up and participating in some fun activities during recess, many thanks to our PTO for providing and supervising the games! This month we are excited that students will have more opportunities to showcase their learning during our Open House STEAM Night and our Science Vocabulary parade.

Metzler Elementary is a remarkable, unique place and who we are and what we stand for isn't possible without the continual outpouring of love, support, and connection we have with our families and surrounding community.

Many thanks to everyone for all that you do daily to support Metzler students and staff.

With the generosity of our community and PTO through fundraising, our students can enjoy additional play areas on our playgrounds. We were able to add some musical flowers to the smaller playground, (students have been enjoying making music during recess). Soon we will have a new addition to the larger playground.

We are looking forward to another amazing month at Metzler! This month started with our Campus GT EXPO on March 1st! We are so proud of the work our students did on their projects. We can’t wait to see the amazing job we know they will do at the district GT Expo.

As always, my admin team and I are always here to support you with anything you need.

Take care and be well,

Danis Boone, Principal

Thank you for your support with keeping our students and staff safe!
