Arrival and Dismissal
** (AM) Cohort drop off time starts at 9:10am- (PM) Chorot drop off time starts at 1:22pm. Please do not pull into the bus loop before these times. Busses will need to pull all the way forward so they don't block the street**
**Please pull as far forward as possible when picking up students. Even if you pass your student we will send them safely to your car. If we are able to completely fill the pickup loop with cars before the light changes it will speed up the dismissal process greatly**
**As always your cooperation and patience will appreciated. The staff will continue to work hard to provide students with a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal process.**
General Information:
Parents will NOT be permitted to walk and gather on Roosevelt school grounds during arrival and dismissal. Parents must remain in their cars throughout the arrival and dismissal process. Students that are walkers must be dropped off at the designated locations listed below.
NO cars will be permitted to park in the Roosevelt parking lots OR at Santia Hall during arrival and dismissal time.
You may NOT assign your child to be a walker, unless he/she is in the local walking radius of Keego Harbor. All other students outside of the walking community are required to use the car line or bus transportation. Parents will not be allowed to meet walkers outside the building and walk off property to parked cars.
All exterior doors at Roosevelt will be assigned a color and grade levels will each be assigned to enter AND exit our building through these doors only.
Larson/Pacsai/Treadwell/Carroll: Front Left Door-Red Door
Anderson/O’Brien/Zawalski: Beland Street Side Door-Green Door
Wood/Massie: Front Main Door-Yellow Door
Fifth Grade: Back Door (formerly known as the Park and Grab Door)-White Door
Magnet: Magnet Back Door-Pink Door
All Roosevelt students will be given a colored, plastic tag to attach to their backpacks that corresponds to their assigned exterior door for arrival and dismissal.
All Roosevelt families will be given 2 color coded signs with their student’s name(s) on them for their car for dismissal purposes. We know some of you may not plan to pick up in car line, but you will still be issued two signs, just in case.
Bus Riders
Arrival:
Bus riders will be dropped off at Roosevelt, in the front loop.
Bus riders will be greeted by adults holding colored flags that match their luggage tag and assigned exterior door.
We will be dismissing one bus at a time to reduce the total number of students who are gathered in front of the school building.
Bus riders will follow the adult holding their colored flag and will be escorted/delivered to their assigned exterior door to meet their teacher.
Bus riders will stay in line with their class, wearing their face coverings until we enter the school at 9:20am.
Dismissal:
Bus riders will exit the building through the same door they enter through at arrival.
Bus riders will be escorted/delivered to the bus loop by an adult.
Bus riders will proceed to their assigned bus.
Any late busses will have its riders stay safely at Roosevelt until their bus arrives.
Car Riders
Arrival:
Car line will be the same format as previous school years, traveling down Beland, down Beachmont, in front of City Hall and onto Schroeder if needed.
Car riders will begin being let out of cars as soon as the bus loop is clear, approximately 9:15am for the (am) cohort and and 1:27pm for the (pm) cohort.
Car riders will be greeted by adults holding colored flags that match their luggage tag and assigned exterior door.
Car riders will follow the adult holding their colored flag and will be escorted/delivered to their assigned exterior door to meet their teacher (depending on their grade).
To make this process more efficient please have your student seated on the passenger side of the car if possible.
Car riders will stay in line with their class, wearing their face coverings until we enter the school at 9:20am.
Dismissal:
Car riders will be escorted out of their classrooms by their classroom teachers. They will exit the building through the same door they enter through at arrival.
Car riders will wait with their teacher in an assigned spot outside, in the front of the school, using social distancing safety procedures for outside.
Car line will be the same format as previous school years, traveling down Beland, down Beachmont, in front of City Hall and onto Schroeder if needed.
Roosevelt staff will be looking for your color coded student sign in your car window, to minimize person-to-person contact, when you reach the corner of Beland and Beachmont. He/She will communicate your child’s name to the classroom teachers, so they can get your student to the “ready position” in front of the building.
As you pull through the front car loop, your child will proceed to meet your car and you can exit back onto Cass Lake Road.
Walkers
Arrival:
Your student may only be a walker, if you live in the walking community of Keego Harbor. To reduce the number of people in one space parents will not be allowed to park and exit cars to meet walkers outside of the building.
Walkers may cross at the light at Cass Lake, with the crossing guard in the front of the building OR they can enter through the back gate by the basketball court, beginning at 9:10am for the (am) cohort and 1:22pm for the (pm) cohort.
Adults will be waiting to receive students and will direct them/escort them (depending on their age) to the appropriate teacher/arrival door.
Walkers will stay in line with their class, wearing their face coverings until we enter the school at 9:20am or 1:30pm.
Walkers will need to be dropped off by parents and one of the(2) drop off points. Students may be dropped off at the back playground gate (near the basketball courts) or at the traffic light on Cass Lake Rd. Note: e will have an adult present at the playground gate to support students crossing in front of City Hall.
Dismissal:
Walkers will exit the building through the same door they enter through at arrival.
Walkers will be escorted/delivered to the stoplight out front or the back gate by the basketball court, by an adult.
Walkers will proceed home after they have been escorted off of school grounds.
Tardy Students
We are respectfully requesting that students do their best to be on time, as the school day is already very short and teachers want to maximize their face-to-face time. If you do arrive late, you will need to park in front of the building and call the Roosevelt main office. Office staff will instruct you as to what to do next.
