Achieve Assessment Inventory
At the LiNK Achieve meeting in Wichita we learned that South Gray Schools will be required to complete an assessment inventory to evaluate our current assessment practices. We will use the Achieve model (see link below) in order to list, evaluate and make necessary changes. I've included the list of people on our literacy team who will be involved directly in this process. We've included a representative from every building and want all voices to be heard, so please find a representative and share your view on the assessment practices we currently have in place and what you would like to see in to the future.

Podcast Post: Science of Reading- A conversation with Emily Hanford
Listen to Emily Hanford discuss how schools teach reading and her experience with dyslexia. My favorite part of this podcast is when Hanford shares that we can't do things the way we've always done them. We need to believe that every child can learn to read.

Dyslexia Update
Last month Kansas passed the recommendations from the Legislative Task Force on Dyslexia. At the LiNK Achieve conference Cindy Hadicke, elementary consultant for KSDE, shared a little about the timeline to get new practices in place by August 2020. The state consultants for KSDE will meet in March 2020, service centers will be trained shortly after this meeting. Then schools will receive more in-depth information and training on Dyslexia. There is a new section on the KSDE website for Dyslexia, check it out below:
